I came across mention of the Bob Lord Challenge Trohpy recently which it seems was the first name of the National League Cup. It started in 1979 and had that name for the next twenty years or so.
I assume it is named in relation to Burnley's Bob Lord but there doesn't seem to be anything online that I can spot explaining why it was named after him. Anyone cast any light on that?

Re: Bob Lord Challenge Trophy
Wasn't he chairman of the Conference as well as being a big pot at the Football League?

Re: Bob Lord Challenge Trophy
Is the trophy not awarded now to the man of the match in the National League play off final?
Re: Bob Lord Challenge Trophy
I think Bob bought it hence it was named after him-but I may be wrong.
