F A Cup Final Today
The biggest national football tournament in the world reaches its final today - who do you want to win?
Got to be Palace for me - about time they won something

Re: F A Cup Final Today
I'd like to see Palace win and they have been in great form including that semi win against Villa.
Earlier this year, City went through a really bad patch but seem to be recovering form a bit now.
My bookie has CP 31/10, City 17/20. I don't see it that much in City's favour but suspect they'll edge it unfortunately for Palace.

It would be good if Palace won and even better if we are scheduled to play them straight after they've had an away Europa league fixture in Turkey or somewhere else far away.
Re: F A Cup Final Today
Can't imagine any neutrals want City to win apart from Brighton or Millwall fans.

Couldn't give a monkeys who wins, as long as it's a good game.

Re: F A Cup Final Today
I think that semi final performance against Villa was a superb team effort. If they replicate that I think Palace will win it.
As an aside those teams wearing mostly red kits in the play off have all been successful, so on that bit of footballing logic, I’m team Palace.

Re: F A Cup Final Today
Palace battered City in the 1st half at the Etihad a couple of months ago, 2-0 up at HT and had a goal disallowed by being an inch offside for 3-0.
At half time Glasner took off a striker and put on a CB and City went on to win 5-2.
Shows Palace have the potential to trouble them and hopefully Glasner has learned from his mistakes, if there is nothing wrong don't try and fix it.

Good thread, I didn't even know it was today
Re: F A Cup Final Today
FA Cup Final has lost a little of its magic for me.....the semis being played at Wembley doesn't help... I'll probably be sitting out in the Sun with a cold beer and keep nipping in to catch the score.
Re: F A Cup Final Today
Lost all of its magic for me but I'm probably older than me.
I can recall the finalists from the mid-sixties through to the mid-eighties but seriously cannot remember any in recent times apart from last season.
Good to see Guardiola moaning for a change. Such a pleasant chap.

Re: F A Cup Final Today
Some of the factors in why the final has lost its appeal
Semi finals shouldn’t be at Wembley
Shouldn’t be being played before the final game of the league season
Man City

Palace for me. I think their home support is fantastic. Hope it’s as good today at Wembley.

Red card?
Edit, no, no punishment for a handball outside area by keeper. Guess rules have changed.

Re: F A Cup Final Today
Commentator said it can’t be a penalty because the handball is outside the box. Was he not aware that inside the box there is no offence?

Re: F A Cup Final Today
The madness of VAR. The decision was correct but he’s not allowed to tell the ref to award a yellow, which it should have been.
They didn't even go back for the FK.

Silva is going down before that tackle comes in. It's a proper dive.

Never a penalty in a million years. Blatant dive
Re: F A Cup Final Today
VAR has told the ref he didn’t touch the ball. Clearly did.

Proper dive, ref gave it because of the protestimg - if he doesn't VAR doesn't overturn it

Can you give out MoM at half time.

Re: F A Cup Final Today
Palace is one of my favourite away games. View isn't great but the atmosphere is.
Re: F A Cup Final Today
And to think Man U could have kept him for nothing. If only he had a fancy foreign name like Onana

Fantastic game. With VAR we get two major decisions wrong in a half of football. Par for the course for next season.

I did mate, I'm not sure about the "going away from goal" line they are feeding tbh. It's been a good game for a changefidelcastro wrote: ↑Sat May 17, 2025 5:30 pmDid you not see the red card that Palace got away with?
