Manchester city

Post by Terrier » Mon Jul 21, 2025 8:50 pm

Are city our best friends in the football world?
I had a check of the players we have had from them and you forget how many have come our way, mee and tripps being my standouts.
I also think selling trafford to them will work out better for us than selling to Newcastle.

No. We grassed them up to the Premier League along with six or seven others.

The ******* cheats.

No. In the 90s. Even when they were **** they used to put five and six past us. And even when we were level pegging in the 2000s. they still put five past us.

No THEY didn't it was just Shaun Goater..... or certainly felt that way?!?!?! He was like Aguero Mk1. Those 2 between them scored what feels like countless amounts of goals against us!!!

To say I've seen us take some big losses against them is something of an understatement.

I've seen them score
4 against us four times
5 against us five times (and was spared one more during the behind closed doors season)
6 against us three times
7 against us once

Surely City are our biggest bogey side ? Didn't seem to matter what level we played them at more often than not they just spank us

First time I watched us play Man City was at Main Road when they had their double relegation... We were in a temporary stand and we drew 2-2 I think

What a day that was

Just checked the stats:
Our record against Man City is pretty good
Played 102
Won 29
Drawn 52
Lost 21
We’ve had some heavy defeats in recent seasons, but I can remember many good performances and results against them

Since I started watching us the record against City is

Played 29
Won 1
Drawn 3
Lost 25
Scored 18
Conceded 93

Be nice if it is still less than 100 conceded by the end of the season

Lucky enough to meet a city coach who coaches through their U18’ to 21 as was, was a coach with Ben Mee & trips whilst he was over here on holiday & spent a few hours discussing how City coach & treat young players. He was telling me City & BFC have a very good relationship at that level & if a player is going to be let go they will very often get in touch with BFC about he availability. They see us as a very well run club in all the right ways & a good destination for a good career. He said that the way things are done now at City is all down to the guys that came over from Barcelona after the take over & it’s spread through the club. If players don’t meet their academic levels set they don’t get to play their football etc.he was saying both them & Chelsea have a high turnover of players & it’s run like a business with nearly all of the players they let go have great careers at other prem clubs but certainly championship clubs.

Felt like Wanchope too!

Aguero has 9 against us. Goater 10!! Anyone else anywhere close, cant think of many if any in recent times?

Edit even Harry Kane 'only' had 9 but he was another!

Interesting list. This is PREMIER League only. But still. Nobody tops Goater (unless Kane scored against us in cups)?

Aguero had 3 in cups. Total 9.

I know Wigan were one believe it or not. Wolves and Sheffield Utd always felt like they were but no more.

But I believe Wigan is the side we had the worse record against for any time we have played more than ten times. But that has changed recently too.

I remember Nicky Weaver keeping them in the game at Main Rd and the Turf, when we were well on top, in the first half hour.

I was there too. Any Payton scored twice if I remember correctly.

I could walk to Maine Road in 20 minutes then from my home in Manchester

Yes fair enough but there is such a huge difference there.....

Your post says won 29 lost 21

Yet in the other post it says won 1 lost 25. :?

Hi,
Mea culpa!
I checked another source and there was a clear disparity, so I went back to my original source and discovered my error.
It's 21 draws and 52 defeats, not the other way round! (With the 29 wins)
Memo to self: when you get to my age always use reading glasses when looking at tables and charts!

From beating them in the Charity Shield, we've beat them on 3 other occasions, drawn 6, and LOST 26 games.
Grim stats, those.
