I've been 8 times for work and pleasure, in last couple of years, and I don't know what you're into, but the following are my faves:
Restaurants:
Augustiner am Gendarmenmarkt do a daily lunch deal which is very good value, and of course the excellent Augustiner Beer.
Oderquelle on Oderbergerstraße in Prenzlauer Berg ist very good German food.
Bar Internazionalle on Rosa Luxemburg Straße, ace informal Italian in a cool neighbourhood
Craft beer places:
Birra Italia on Prenzlauer Allee
Manifest Taproom on Oderbergerstraße
Kaschk on Rosa Luxemburg Straße
You also can't go wrong with an evening stroll down the Spree to James Simon Park, grab some beers and snacks from the Rewe, and do what the locals do and sit on the grass enjoying the various artists that perform on the river bank.
Unbelievably good city is Berlin.

Re: Berlin
My favorite city in Europe by a distance. It feels like another place in time, in a good way. Some cities like to promote an arty or bohemian scene, but its forced or commercial. In Berlin I always get a genuine sense of culture and individualism.ChrisG wrote: ↑Thu Jul 24, 2025 2:38 pmI've been 8 times for work and pleasure, in last couple of years, and I don't know what you're into, but the following are my faves:

Re: Berlin
Berliner Republik Restaurant and bar along the riverside.
Lots of different draught beers on and their gimmick is that they have a large screen showing the prices per beer like in a stock market and the prices periodically fluctuate up and down depending on how much of a particular beer is being sold/they expect to sell at the time.
Further along the riverside on the same side heading towards the city centre there's a nice garden / terrace type bar but can't remember the name of it and also an Irish Bar a bit further along that was ok for food and drinks.
