Newcastle statement for Isak leaving
So petty it’s hilarious, but needed after how he’s been with them since the Liverpool rumours began.
‘Newcastle United can announce the sale of striker Alexander Isak to Liverpool for a significant British record transfer fee.
The Sweden international joined the Magpies from Real Sociedad in 2022 and made 109 appearances in all competitions.‘

One can only assume the fee was the release clause?

Re: Newcastle statement for Isak leaving
I thought we were petty a couple of weeks ago with the PFA awards, not making any reference to Trafford (the Championship Player of the Year), Egan-Riley or Brownhill.
You would think clubs would be above that.

Re: Newcastle statement for Isak leaving
It doesn't take much thinking about to understand the nature of the Newcastle statement.
Re: Newcastle statement for Isak leaving
I’m really not sure what else Newcastle should be expected to say tbh with you.
The way he’s treated such a great club who gave him his shot in the Premier League whilst paying him a handsome salary is quite frankly disgusting.

Not gonna lie, I'd have just used the first sentence and left it there.

Remarkably similar to how Wissa treated Brentford in the end - who of course signed for the morally upstanding lambs that are Newcastle United.

Brentford haven't thanked him for his services either - they've written a bit more though.Cheshireclaret wrote: ↑Mon Sep 01, 2025 10:06 pmRemarkably similar to how Wissa treated Brentford in the end - who of course signed for the morally upstanding lambs that are Newcastle United.
Yoane Wissa has joined Newcastle United for an undisclosed fee.
The forward signed from French club Lorient in August 2021 and scored 49 goals in 149 appearances for Brentford.
In his first season, Wissa scored 10 goals in all competitions and then added another seven in 2022/23.
Wissa missed part of the 2023/24 campaign at the Africa Cup of Nations with DR Congo, where his nation were beaten by South Africa on penalties in the third-place play-off, but hit his best patch of form in a Brentford shirt on his return.
Wissa ended that season with a run of eight goals and two assists in 15 games helping him to become the Bees’ top scorer.
During the 2024/25 campaign Wissa became the club's record Premier League goalscorer (45), surpassing Ivan Toney's previous record of 36. He ended the season with 19 top-flight goals.
Re: Newcastle statement for Isak leaving
Wissa falls in to the same category as Isak along with several others such as Gyokeres tbh with you!
It’s not a club issue for me, it’s the so-called modern day ‘professional’ footballer and their agents that are the problem here IMO.
In both cases, Liverpool and Newcastle didn’t do anything out of the ordinary by making bids for these two only to be rejected. Cue both players spitting their dummies out to force through their respective transfers.
In the end, both Newcastle and Brentford got great money for both players, however, they would have preferred to keep them if each player hadn’t refused to honour their contracts earning a small fortune!!

I wonder who is happier tonight - Isak with his petty statement and big move or Guehi after his perfect goodbye being told his move was off at the last minute.
Re: Newcastle statement for Isak leaving
Who knows, but at least Guehi seems to have a bit of class about him!daveisaclaret wrote: ↑Mon Sep 01, 2025 10:25 pmI wonder who is happier tonight - Isak with his petty statement and big move or Guehi after his perfect goodbye being told his move was off at the last minute.

Re: Newcastle statement for Isak leaving
A lot of class, I would say. At FT last night, Henderson tried to push him forward and whether that was to take the limelight, or to make some huge goodbye gesture (or both) he clearly shook his head and refused to. Classic example of a player having respect for the club and, more importantly, the fans.
Martinez acting out a huge emotional goodbye at the final home game of last season looks very, very weird and misplaced in contrast.........

Re: Newcastle statement for Isak leaving
Newcastle, who aren’t below unsettling players from smaller clubs, getting salty about their player being unsettled by a bigger club?
Poor lambs.
Poor lambs.
Re: Newcastle statement for Isak leaving
At the end of day it doesn't matter which clubs and players are involved. It is not good for the game and shows what money and agaents are doing to it. Unfortunateky this is the world we live in these days, money speaks louder than anything.
Re: Newcastle statement for Isak leaving
If those player hadn’t performed, the clubs would be forcing them out of the door this summer. Can’t have it both ways.
Re: Newcastle statement for Isak leaving
In 1979 Trevor Francis became the first £1,000,000 British player.
46 years later in 2025, Alexander Isak cost Liverpool £125 million.
Will we in 40-50 years see a footballer sold for £1 billion ?

Not been reported anywhere he had a release clause
Re: Newcastle statement for Isak leaving
Isak did what he had to do. Newcastle are delusional and think they are one of the top clubs rather than a stepping stone, so he knew they'd make it difficult.
He wants and deserves to play at the very top and Newcastle were selfishly standing in the way.

Re: Newcastle statement for Isak leaving
Player contracts are guaranteed, however well or badly they played. Isak signed a 6 year contract because he wanted the money and was (apparently) willing to take the bird in hand now rather than wait for two in the bush. Then when he saw the two in the bush were worth more, he wanted to renege on the deal. If he had been either useless or injured, Newcastle couldn't have reneged on their side of the deal.

If you treat adults like children eventually they'll start behaving that way. Far too many are pampered & indulged excessively I'm not advocating a dickensian style approach but in part some of us are responsible for the way things are in a behavioural sense.

I suspect it more likely that we'll be back down to a point where paying a million will be headline news; the average age of supporters is increasing, so at some point the bubble will burst.

The Newcastle supporters club statement is even better than the clubs, deluded enough think they speak for all of football.

I have seen one from something called Wor flags or something like that saying good riddance following his conduct. No doubt they have also done one welcoming Wissa to the club.quoonbeatz wrote: ↑Tue Sep 02, 2025 4:05 pmThe Newcastle supporters club statement is even better than the clubs, deluded enough think they speak for all of football.

Re: Newcastle statement for Isak leaving
The club statement will be for the Newcastle fans' benefit because the fans will need to be reassured that the club share their one-eyed view of the situation.
The club hierarchy will (hopefully) be a little more savvy about it all and realise that somedays you're the pigeon and somedays you're the statue.

Re: Newcastle statement for Isak leaving
The main difference between isak and wissa was that isak clearly got tapped up by the scousers and well before the pathetic offer went in. Yes, they did it through their media friends, but it was while the season was ongoing. Wissa wasn't - not least because he wasn't exactly top of the shopping list.
And isak he said to his teammates must have been pretty dickkish too, as one of them had apparently lost the plot and said that he would never play on the same team as that #### ever again.
Oh, and, of course, is wissa really worth what was paid for him. No. Just like chris wood.
Was isak with 3 years left on his contract worth more? Yes.
The one thing with these owners is that the sportswashing side of them means that they normally go out of their way not to appear dodgy like Chelsea, the scousers, city (all in different ways).

Re: Newcastle statement for Isak leaving
If Chris Wood had found the form he's got now, and prior to his final season with us, he was a bargain at the price Newcastle paid us for him
That he didn't is one of those things but 91 PL goals is not to be sniffed at when you see which players are around him on the all time PL list

Re: Newcastle statement for Isak leaving
Agreed. It's quite unusual for a player that we sold for the concensus to be that the buyer overpaid at the time, but then be proved wrong. Newcastle were also thought to have overpaid for dan burn and tripps at the same time.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 02, 2025 8:53 pmIf Chris Wood had found the form he's got now, and prior to his final season with us, he was a bargain at the price Newcastle paid us for him

Quite the opposite for man u. It seems that most of their failures go on to play well elsewhere these days. Such a pity.

I’m just disappointed that Saudi PIF didn’t stick to their guns and not sell him. That would have reminded players who pays their ridiculous salaries.
