Take Aways
Once of a time you had to enter the premises to pick up your order.
Not any longer.
Sit in your car outside my house with your shitty music on at full pelt until the takeaway rings you to state that your order is ready. Then belt on your horn until a member of staff brings your order to your car.
I've considered using those kiddies water guns and filling them with car paint stripper but I reckon things could backfire, if handled inappropriately.

Re: Take Aways
Why collect when you can stay at home and let someone else's car smell like spring rolls, crispy fried chilli beef in OK sauce, egg fried rice, salt and pepper chips and hopefully free prawn crackers?

Re: Take Aways
Because there is this inbuilt mindset that your delivery will be cold and spoiled by the time it arrives.
I once threw a few eggs at a car recently but have you seen the price of them nowadays ? Cheaper to get a bloody takeaway.

It's so easy to have everything delivered and food has become part of that culture.
Which kid wants a home cooked meal when their mates are getting something from a multi national branded corporation ?

Anything of any worth in terms of food stuff that we produce we sell on to other countries because we have no interest in it.
Re: Take Aways
I still have to go and pick mine up as no one delivers to my house. It’s all part of the ceremony for me

Until recently, I had my Grandkids living with me.
They need to go to bed and sleep at a reasonable time that they can take on the full opportunities that our education system provides during the day.
Yet, these people don't give a flying f*ck.. Nobody seems to give a **** about anybody else.

Re: Take Aways
Is Chilimaster still around? They moved to Colne road many moons ago. Unbelievable how low the prices were compared to what shops charge now.
A mixed meat kebab from Chilimaster was enough for 2 people. These days, a mixed meat kebab isn't even enough for 1 person.

Re: Take Aways
The virtual queue. You go into an empty chippy thinking you’ll be served immediately only to find that they’re making umpteen on line orders and so you’re still stuck there for twenty minutes.
In the olden days it was only the young apprentice from the factory with a cardboard box and twelve orders that you had to beat to the door or be waiting an age. More often than not they’d pay separately for each of the twelve orders too!

So speaks a man who has either never caused any sort of noise/disturbance after 8:00pm, or one who while not giving a flying f*ck about anyone else, expects everyone else to show him more consideration.Dressinggown wrote: ↑Fri Sep 19, 2025 9:20 am... Re: Take Aways
I hate them so much. Full of shite and doing so much damage to people's bodies. Expensive as well. Who orders McDonalds chips for delivery. They are cold before they even get in the filthy bags.

Can you provide some evidence of this ?AfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Fri Sep 19, 2025 9:54 amSo speaks a man who has either never caused any sort of noise/disturbance after 8:00pm, or one who while not giving a flying f*ck about anyone else, expects everyone else to show him more consideration.
I can't state that I have not been involved in unsavoury incidents in the past but generally ******* off the general public as a daytime activity is my point.

There’s really good options all over the place. Things will improve massively over the next 10 years with dark kitchens taking over.

Re: Take Aways
There's a easy solution to that if the service isn't up to scratch just walk out i don't mess about waiting. If more people did it they'd cotton that you have to keep your house in order.RMutt wrote: ↑Fri Sep 19, 2025 9:52 amThe virtual queue. I've never heard of anything like that before ... Maybe it's not all take aways but that specific one ?
And yeah, that would be annoying

Now that the local kids (your grandkids perhaps amongst them?) are back from school I've had to abandon the job I was working this afternoon due to the noise they're making playing outside. Does their behaviour constitute off *******/don't giving a flying f*ck attitude that ought to be censured?Dressinggown wrote: ↑Fri Sep 19, 2025 10:13 am
