Payet
Signs for Marseille. Shock.
Hopefully this starts a day of much activity and triggers other clubs into movement us included.

Re: Payet
Took a £25,000.00 a week paycut to go home. Jesus, I'd love to earn £25,000.00 a week. I put in the zeros as a k doesn't do the amount justice.
TBF, I've been back in England for eighteen months, after living in France for 14 years, and I think it's probably the second worst decision I made.

Re: Payet
Think he got given a million pounds in a loyalty bonus from West Ham, then just buggered off.
He'll be fine.

Re: Payet
If West Ham had sold him in the summer I wonder how much they'd have got for him.
Nice to think those two frauds they have for owners have lost out on a few million.

Re: Payet
The owners wanted to keep him and let him rot with the u23s, but the manager and players said they wanted him out of the club.
They have, however, made him pay back his last month's wages of half a million.

Re: Payet
He turned down all sorts of moves, his wife left England to go home to Marseille a while ago (allegedly) so he's been stuck here unhappy. I guess family comes first for some people.IndigoLake wrote:I would have thought that he could get a better move than Marseille. The French league in general is pretty poor, in my opinion. But each to their own!

NRCThe first being the ex-wife is my guess heath claret.
No, It was taking the wrong decision when I was headhunted, a mistake I rue to this day. I was probably a poor husband to my first wife, so she is not in the frame to be a bad decision.

Good for him in that case. I wasn't aware of other moves that were on for him. Quality player so was just a little surprised he wasn't going to a bigger club or perhaps a bigger league.KRBFC wrote:He turned down all sorts of moves, his wife left England to go home to Marseille a while ago (allegedly) so he's been stuck here unhappy. Re: Payet
There's a real feeling of safety living in France compared to england, but in reality its false as your a lot more likely to be involved in a terrorist incident over there.Heathclaret wrote:Took a £25,000.00 a week paycut to go home. Re: Payet
There's no feeling of safety in Marseille, it's always a relief to get back to your car and find the wheels and tyres still there, the windows still intact and that you're going to get out of the place without being mugged.

Re: Payet
We lived in the Gers, Midi Pyrenees. Don't think I ever felt threatened by anyone, never mind terrorists. Very calm area, with some great vineyards and Margret de Canard to die for. Nerac, near where we lived, is the village that Chocolate was set. Worth a visit Saxo.Saxoman wrote:There's a real feeling of safety living in France compared to england, but in reality its false as your a lot more likely to be involved in a terrorist incident over there.
