Rovers..trading with the Devil..
Here's the scenario..
We stay up in the Premier League, comfortably.... but lose 1-0 away at Chelsea, to an offside extra time winner in the last eight of the FA Cup..
The Bar-Stewards inch past an understrength Manure in the next round, stumble over a managerless Middlesborough in the last eight, and beat Oxford United on penalties at Wembley in the semi-final, but get thrashed 7-0 in the final by Chelsea...
Chelsea win the Premier League, so Rovers qualify for the Europa League after being relegated from the Championship.....
Their first two months in League One next season, involves fixtures with Rochdale, Benfica, Southend, Valencia, Plymouth Argyle and Borussia Dortmund !!
Deal or no Deal ?

Re: Rovers..trading with the Devil..
think you need to look at the tables, Benfica, Valencia and Dortmund wont be anywhere near the Europa League !
More likely to be fixtures against FC Vilnius, FC Nomark, FC Allerdouche and Trellorborgs

I think the phrase is " For illustration purposes only " ... but you get my drift... Thursday night fixtures and then playing Sunday in League one...Vegas Claret wrote:think you need to look at the tables, Benfica, Valencia and Dortmund wont be anywhere near the Europa League !

Whilst I agree with your basic premise, IT, your knowledge of such matters seems to play havoc with your impeccable left-wing credentials !Imploding Turtle wrote:Doing down like a Duke Bar whore offered a fiver.

Re: Rovers..trading with the Devil..
I'm sorry to be a spoilsport but UEFA recently changed qualifying criteria where the FA Cup runners up no longer enter the UEFA Europa League if the winners have already qualified for Europe.

Re: Rovers..trading with the Devil..
Trelleborgs you nugget. They went on to be knocked out only 1-0 over 2 legs against a star studded Lazio, so hardly that bad of a side after all, part timers or not.

Which game was it where David Batty got banjo'd by LeSaux? Locomotive Moscow?Saxoman wrote:Trelleborgs you nugget. They went on to be knocked out only 1-0 over 2 legs against a star studded Lazio, so hardly that bad of a side after all, part timers or not.
Re: Rovers..trading with the Devil..
Spartak Moscow. They were a good side then too. I think our worst defeat was against Larissa(Greece) under mark Hughes. A real missed opportunity for me that season with the team we had.Damo wrote:Which game was it where David Batty got banjo'd by LeSaux? Locomotive Moscow?

Best news this window in Nigel Clough staying at Burton. Roverrrrrrs need to be better than three teams. So that's Rotherham...Saxoman wrote:We're too good.
