Hendrick

Post by TopCat » Wed Feb 01, 2017 11:53 am

A lot has been said about his fee, how he was struggling to live up to it.
He has been getting better and better, and consistent.
His partnership with Barton last night was perfect.
10/10 for the pair of them.
We have a good un with him.
And now his best mates here he can go up another level.

He is going to turn out value for money is this fella. He is strong and powerful runner who covers a hell of a lot of ground and isn't frightened to mix it..

He needs to work on his passing game though, I thought it let him down last night

Makes the game look very easy to me. Brilliant signing.

I wondered what we were drinking with the fee over the first month or so we had him as he was struggling getting acclimatised to the pace of the new league, on a consistent basis anyway.

His form since about November time has been superb, arguably for me the most important player in our first eleven currently. Last night was his very best performance so far, and if it was not for Barton playing like Superman, he would have been man of the match for me.

He's getting the pace of the division. He got caught in possession early on, but now we are seeing his talent and work ethic.

Closest thing we're likely to see at Burnley to Yaya Toure, in the way he surges forwards in possession.

Modern, box to box midfielder with a range of passing, physical presence, an engine and a bit of pace. Proving to be the outstanding signing he always threatened to be.

He was fantastic last night, my man of the match.

After a mediocre start to the season where he was often caught in possession, he has really got to grips with the pace of the league and consistently makes time and space for himself. Hopefully he'll start adding some more goals.

Initially, I too had my doubts about him but figured that if he was good enough for SD he was good enough for me. The same goes for Joey as well. I'm so pleased my assessment was spot on and I'm still glad to be a 'happy clapper'! Long may it continue.

Happy to admit to getting it completely wrong with Hendrick. After his first 10 games or so, I really thought we'd made a big mistake and he wasn't anywhere good enough for the Prem. Have since realised what a very good player he is and seems to be improving all the time. Pie already eaten for that one.

At least I've argued strongly In favour of Barton and Gray being good enough for the Prem.

Settle for 2 out 3 and must remember to reserve judgment.

I'll have slice of that pie 3putt. Wrote Hendrick off after 8 games, I was that disappointed. Maybe a subconscious hang up over the fee. Wow, was I wrong? Looks like he belongs in the middle of our midfield. Maybe we should even be building around him?

Really come into his own, and i'm delighted to have been wrong.

Completely agree bobinho. He's looking very good, but he may get even better yet.

I posted several times about comments from my Derby colleages. I am in Derby tommorrow so will have some interesting feed back for them.

I was unsure for the first few games but he has been outstanding for the last month or so.

Him and Barton were a revelation last night.

He's massive part of our team and I think he will make Burnley his own, and have a great career with us. Looking forward to watching the Irish core with Brady added it will only make us stronger!

He's not short in the quick, tricky feet department either.
Methinks his classic goal against Bournemouth was just the boost he needed to take him up another level or two.
Happy days indeed. :D

Agree Juan think the goal against Bournemouth was the turning point.

It was always going to take time to get used to the team, and the league, some fans lack of patience is irritating.
I hope it's kept in mind when Robbie and Ash get their chances. We all want them to hit the ground flying, but it very rarely happens.

In the games (all on TV) I saw I couldn't really work out his role. There are a lot of midfielders, and sometimes forwards, who you can only judge watching in the ground and several times. But recently he's been so clearly involved you can see why SD wanted him so much. Last night he played like a man possessed. In the second-half which we dominated he was the driving force. It's absolutely normal for a player to take time to step up a level. It's also true that with having played in the Euros he was out of synch with most of the players re. his training/holidays. And, he had to adapt to SD's requirements.

Let's hope he carries on like this and helps start picking points up on our travels.

Some cracking performances all around the pitch, but Hendrick stood out a mile. Still feel cock-a-hoop.
