Anyone have a weekly bet on games ?? What do you go for ? Bets on us, Acca's or BTTS ?

I do quite well on the over 1.5 goals. Usually pick around 12 to 15 matches. Acca's are a pain in the arse because it's always one team that does you! If it's continuous profit you want then like Royboy says it's singles but with that you need to invest a decent amount depending on how much profit you want to make over a period of time. I've put silly amounts of money on singles but if you do your research etc build up a bank roll then you can make decent money. All depends what you want to get out of it.

I've only bet on us a few times! The other week was for us to score 2 or more goals against Sunderland. I don't like backing us tbh.

The best bet for me is an accumulator for both teams not to score if you look at the stats this tends to favour most of the results

doubles and trebles are good so long as your getting decent value on each part of the bet. 2/5 is usually what your looking for to put in a treble and 1/2 for a double.

The Fhgs is a good one to jump on as is the double chance markets.

Very rarely go for a single result as there is usually not much value, unless is a half time result or before a certain time.

The in play market is good for the fhgs as it gives you a chance to analyse the game and the odds increase nicely after 25 mins. Playing flat bets on the in play fhg market is good providing you can bet without emotion and be patient.

talk the talk all day long, baffle us all with odds and stats, one thing is for sure, you are all massively out of pocket come the year end. Gambling is for fools.

^******** from Wile as per usual. If you're savvy enough you can make it work. I've had a small profit (i.e. £50-200) in 4 of the last 5 years with the other year breaking even. The ones who aren't careful or are more gung-ho tend to be the ones that lose out.

find a match where a smaller but better team is at home to a bigger club. The odds are evaluated on chance but are then skewed by weight of betting. Nearly always it is for the more famous club. Burnley have been a wonderful bet over the last 12 months. But backing against Portsmouth and Sheffield Utd and Leeds has done wonders down the years.

Avoid BTTS, odds are enticing but very difficult to land these. The bookies know this and try to steer you down that road.

Instead look at multiples, such as Yankee,Canadian,Lucky 31 & Trixies and then using sites such as soccer stats, learn the percentages of results happening. The most commonly occurring score line is 1-1, which is usually available at 6/1 or 7 in decimal odds, 100/7 gives you the percentage 14.28%. Now another way is 1 in 4 games end in draws (25%) of these half end 1-1. 1 in 8 games ends 1-1(12.5%)

WHU 4/1, Draw 29/10 CITY 8/11

Now this is not a game I would pick as a likely 1-1, that's not to say it never happens. But the bookies were right, City won easily.

Now today's game Sunderland v Burnley

Sunderland 7/5 Draw 12/5 Mighty Clarets 9/4

In decimal, Sunderland 2.4 Draw 3.4 Clarets 3.25.

Although the bookies favour Sunderland, the odds are much closer. Take a quick glance at oddschecker and the favoured score should be 1-1, now combine this game with say 4 similar games, avoiding the bankers such as the City example, place in a Canadian bet 26 bets covering all doubles, trebles, four folds & one fivefold. Using a small stake (I use 50p) can for all 5 correct return upwards of £16,000. 4/5 you can still win big, it doesn't matter if one lets you down.

Finally, please bet responsibly & beware it's cup week = squad rotation.

I normall bet singles but FA Cup is my exception. Lucky 31 today.

On betfair, you can see your net deposits. I currently stand at -£358.64, ie I have withdrawn £358.64 more than I have deposited, proving Wile that you can make profit if you are quite savvy. I tend to do £5 accas usually around 5 teams with typical odds being around 10/1 and it works quite well.

Btts and win in the prem and also btts in the prem is generally close. Most prem games both teams score ive won it a few times

I also do btts in the lower divisions where games are end to end

My preferred bet is doubles and trebles on Result and BTTS. Defoe won me over £160 on a £2.50 treble when we beat them last weekend I have Burnley, Bolton and Southampton in one of my trebles today. I usually 'waste' no more than £20 per week of my hard earned but it adds a bit more interest on a Saturday afternoon.

Main tip though....only bet what you are prepared to lose and don't go chasing your losses.

I'll admit to having the odd 2 bob each-way on a football match or two. And, it is a MUGS game. You will lose in the end.

Seriously though, have any stats been done on the "Coupon Busters" ? They teams that always fail to deliver when they're 2/5 at home ? Always seems to be Liverpool for me

I generally only put bets on for the entertainment aspect, so if I'm out on an all-dayer on a Saturday, but still, one of my rules is I only place a bet if I disagree with the odds given. A great example of that was the Brazil vs Germany final in 2014 where the odds for a Germany win were too nice to ignore. I think it was 5/1 for a Germany win and so I placed £10.

Scored a few free fiver for Saturday and one of them went on the League one results. One draw and four wins either way.

Half time they were all in so I Cashed at 30. Profit is profit.

Of course it came in and I'd have had £130!

And, Liverpool prove to be the Coupon Busters once again !

Good job I realised that and backed them not to win midway through the second half. Like you say, a profit is a profit

I've done the same sort of bet since 1989

£5 accumulator on either 4 or 5 teams (and no more)

In that time I've had 2 seasons where I lost money but the remaining seasons I've had a profit (ranging from between £50 and £700)

I bet for a bit of fun though not to win big

I've just withdrawn another £1000 from my online accounts, took £800 out earlier this season and still have about the same in there to continue betting with. That's all profit with exception if the first £400 I put in. It has helped me buy a house. Foolish eh?

I don't really gamble but decided to open my first betting account with sky bet on Saturday.

In game betting seems the best value for me. I put money on spurs to win two nil when they were one nil up. It was obvious that they would score another.

I also put on Barca to draw last night with half an hour to go when they was one nil down. They were all over Villarreal and seemed inevitable. The ability to cash out on in game bets is good to because if you are watching it you can see when the tides are turning.

I also put on a few other little bets like goal kicks in certain periods of the game etc


I started Sunday with £5 plus a £10 free bet for signing up and ended with 65 quid. Put £50 back in my bank and still got £15 plus a £5 free bet to play with

I used to do some spread betting which worked out pretty well at times. Did well on a points spread on the season under Coyle when we got promoted and made decent amounts on lower league football (maybe not quite so much the case now but bookies' knowledge of lower league football didn't used to be great) and other random things like red/yellow cards during the world cup.

I got a bit bored of it though, doing it to make money takes a fair bit of effort to pick out the good bets, restraining from interesting/entertaining bets with poor odds, etc.

You can make money betting, or you can enjoy betting, but I don't think the two cross over that much (other than the enjoyment of earning money).

I've used matched betting to make £10k in the last 18 months (see link) and have probably used 2k of this to gamble for real. I've lost most of that but it's risk free fun and can still dream of the day when my £100k accumulator comes in.

I'm mainly low stakes for entertainment value but not, not thought through.

I often look to build a 5+ acca on very favorable fixtures looking to build anything over 5/1
Arsenal, City, Chelsea, United, Burnley, Liverpool, Brighton got me a 17/1 return on Xmas Eve.
While many won't come in the wins keep my total ticking up.

Will sometimes do Player to Score & Team to win if it's over evens just for added watching fun (Costas and Sanchezes).
Also If I see a player who might attack from deeper and/or have set pieces/penalties given long odds to score. Payet was great last season, 5/1 hard away fixtures but only needed one free kick.

I do about one bet a week on average. Unders and Overs are a good bet for the cautious/profit minded. I did pretty well last season betting on a run of Manchester United games, all at under 2.5 goals. The bookies continued to expect them to come alive under LVG despite the turgid football.

And I hardly ever bet on the Super Clarets, but I did have a go on us v Manchester City, with a 2.25 goal start on Asian Handicap Betting, as I was confident we'd give them a tough game at a time they were struggling.

Liverpool are at it AGAIN v Wolves... trying to inflate their odds so that they can earn some proper coin with their benefits money bets
