Average league attendance this season is 11,612
That's 10,197 home fans and 1,415 away supporters but they can console themselves with the fact Leeds, Derby, Preston and Aston Villa can help them push beyond the 12,000 mark.

That wage bill of £28.2m will be higher than ours to Jun'16.

Were they still receiving Parachute payments as well last season ?

They got four years parachute payments starting in 2012/13
So this years accounts will have no parachute payments, no real player sales to recoup losses and attendances about 2,500 less than the season before.
Good business model this.

Didn't they do a Bolton and use their last year of parachute payments as security for a loan?

"Were they still receiving Parachute payments as well last season ?"
Their Matchday and commercial Income was £8.7m with £13.1m parachute payments making up the total Turnover of £21.8m.

Most of there big earners have now left. There wage bill must be now be greatly reduced, has will there turnover now the parachute payments have stopped.
Hard time for Rovers. They just have to hope that the Venkys keep pumping there money in, if not BRFC is doomed

As Goody1975 alludes to they are basically stuffed this season.
Last year they even had £17m in profit on player sales which reduced the overall loss. This season that virtually disappears as does parachute payments and with a wage bill that remains frighteningly high they have nothing to look forward to other than a colossal loss.

Their matchday and commercial will be down around 7 million this season.
I would think their wage bill will still be around 20 million
Thats a bit of an issue if they don't go up!

I think they've got half a dozen first teamers out of contract this summer.
Looks like their youth team will be forming a large part of their first team next summer because they won't be able to blow people out of the water with silly wage offers or transfer fees.

Their income for this season will be boosted by £10m player sales (plus £5m championship TV rights plus £8M match day) i.e £23m.
The 20117/18 season with no more real terms assets to flog and £12m total income plus a massive dept issue expect the iceberg to hit.

As long as the Venkys continue to support them, then they are fine.
Otherwise, its a Bolton scenario (or worse*)

All those years they arrogantly gloated at us. Absolutely foo kin bol lox to all of them. I sincerely hope this is just the start of them squirming around in the lower reaches for years and years.
Oh, and for us to continue growing in a sensible and sustainable way. And draw them at the Turf in the Cup, and completely hammer them.

I'd forgotten about the sales of 'Neanderthal Man' and the own goal expert this season.
Would still expect a loss close to £10 Million in the next accounts though.

Is there a limit to what the Venkys can pump in to keep the ship
afloat under FFP rules?
If not, I think they'll be ok because the Venkys don't look like baling out anytime soon.
They seem content to leave Rovers on the bottom of their in tray mouldering away.
Be hilarious if they had a change of heart, though.

I think transfers are accounted in the Intangible Asset row - if so, turnover and transfer profit both down

Archer.......The £17.3m is Profit on sale of the likes of Rhodes and Gestede and reduces the operating loss from £20.1m to £2.8m. Turnover is unaffected.
ElectroClaret.......Championship clubs are now measured for FFP over a 3 year period during which they can lose £39 million (or £13million per year) before incurring a transfer embargo. However that figure is reduced to £5million per year if the owners do not inject equity to fund the difference. I've yet to study the Blackburn accounts fully for last year but as at Jun'15 the debt to Venky's exceeded £87million within an overall debt of £104million.

Thanks - so the point above about including this season's outgoings doesn't line-up, there is a major reduction in both gates/TV/Etc turnover AND player sales. Looks very dangerous

There's no doubt they are on a very slippery slope. Hanley and Duffy (at £10m profit on sale) replace Rhodes and Gestede from last year and as stated previously their parachute payments have now ended.
Next year probably only Marshall remains as a saleable asset so little or nothing to improve their woeful operating figure.

Marshall out of contract in the summer, along with a few others, and its been reported that Wolves were looking at him.
The Lancs telegraph claim Marshall is demanding £25k a week, so he's possibly on £10-15k at a guess.
With 6 months left he could well go this window or Rovers will get nothing in the summer.

The books show that Venkys London Ltd allocated 23,422,500 Shares of £1 each, in the year ending March 2016. They did this by converting all of the £15,837,500 in the Companies " Capital Contribution Reserve " into shares. This, in layman's terms, appears to be money pumped into the Club prior to March 2015. It's conversion to shares seems to indicate that Venky's know they're never going to get it back.
The other £7,585,000 looks to be fresh money put in between April 2015 and the end of March 2016.
As " Royboyclaret " says, they lost £20.1m before player trading, which then reduced the loss to £2.8m. An interesting footnote to the accounts ( No.28 ) state that since 1st April 2016, they've entered into transfer dealings with a net profit of £10,785,148...
Very few of their players would now attract a significant fee, due to age, unproven ability or length of remaining contract. With diminishing crowds, the ending of their parachute money and a squad from which no significant revenue can be raised, the club will become increasingly reliant on the owner's largesse just to keep trading...
Shame really ...

Thought so...just couldn't remember Hanley's name..getting the occasional moment now !!
As it's your area of expertise, can you see any evidence of "Asset stripping" that their fans bleat on about ? It's been many years since I had to study/pick apart accounts for work, but I've looked at the last 3/4 years of their books and I can't see it...
Just looks like owners who didn't understand the market, received very poor advice and subsequently mismanaged the club, but who've stumped up more than £80 million to keep them going

"can you see any evidence of "Asset stripping" that their fans bleat on about ? "
Absolutely none..........as yet, of course.
This is the intriguing part of the story and one which Sidney1st has struggled with his Blackburn 'mates' on f@cebook. They're convinced that Venky's are fleecing the club when, in truth, the exact opposite applies.
Without the £87+million to which you refer it's unlikely the club would now be trading and just a brief read through the posts on this thread suggests that even far worse days are on the horizon. At that point a massive decision will be required from the men in Pune as to the potential timing of ending their commitment to Blackburn. Only then might it dawn on the protestors as to who was really responsible for the decine of their club.
That said, for owners who were unaware that relegation from the Premier League was even possible, perhaps the only surprise is that they've bungled along even this far.

Maybe asset stripping isn't the correct word, but from the average fan's point of view, it looks like it. They can see the players that have left along with the fees involved and see none of that money being reinvested back into new players. And it is going to get much worse for them . Their spiral might not end at league 1.
Re: Rovers wage bill last season.....

by Royboyclaret
AshvilleNC........The answer to that lies basically within the thread title. In just the last four seasons their Wage bill has totalled £120million plus a further £80million in other operating costs.
Any incoming fees therefore, plus further Venky's cash injection, has gone to covering those costs. Unless and until they reduce those costs to a workable Championship level they'll continue to struggle. To be fair, I think that is the Venky's current strategy but only time will tell if they're ultimately successful.

Looking at some of the comments on the BRFCS site, the vast majority haven't got a clue... wailing on about money laundering, asset stripping, and worse. I wouldn't say I'm a bear with the biggest brain, but some of that lot really are one scotch egg short of a picnic !!
Lads, the money's gone on your players wages, their agents & transfer fees and pay-offs to any number of Managers !! Deal with it !

Venkys have constantly saved the Rovers. Their is nobody who wants to buy them except the Imaginary friend of that well financial expert Birdie?

There is a thread on BRFC that lays it all out fairly succinctly
Still losing £1 million a month and still have a top eight wage bill.
Some on there are gradually realising that the money has been provided by the Venkys, but completely wasted by a succession of bad managers and bad signings

I like these posts with regards to Brockhall. In fact, taking my time to think about it for a millisecond, the second one re housing sounds good.
'The issue surely is about the use to which the land is put? If it's restricted to its current use doesn't that merely prevent developers swarming all over it and using it for, say, housing?
It would not stop Burnley buying it and continuing to use it for its existing purpose or have I got this wrong?
That would obviously be the ultimate betrayal of Jack's legacy and could well amuse Venkys.'
'They could do that, apart from the fact that that lot are already developing their own training ground. Fact is it would be worth millions more if they could sell it for housing. That doesn't appear to be possible though.'

PNE were in the running to buy Bolton Wanderers' training ground, but were pipped to it by Wigan Athletic. The attraction for PNE was that it was just down the M61 from their ground.
They are obviously in the market for a Training Ground; what price one just down the A59?

The attitude of some Rovers fans baffles me. They had their season in the sun under Uncle Jack and what an era it was for them; something they'll never forget. But they can't understand that it was all built on crumbly foundations. Spending above their means was never sustainable and The Venkys are showing just how poor a business model it was because one relegation has virtually killed the club. They blame The Venkys for their demise but I think it's clear that they're just the unfortunate fools left to deal with the aftermath of everything that happened before their reign.
You can only pay over the odds for success for so long. As soon as others with deeper pockets start doing the same you're done for. It's a sad tale for our neighbours but one we can all learn from. Accept where you are and learn to compete within your means. We're a proud, shining example of this.

This sounds an excellent idea....even better, we could buy it and lease it to Preston...
Whilst we're at it, we could buy Ben Marshall for the asking price of £2m.. he's a decent player.. sign him on a four year deal & then sell him to Derby for £4 million in 18 months time, as is our wont...
The whole combined cost should be around £6 million, keeps Venkys at Ewood for the forseeable, we'll see a good profit in the medium term. It takes B*****d's last two recognised assets, and would send the BRFCS board into meltdown !! Trebles all round !!
