How is January for you so far?

So it's a slow January so far (other than Barton) - there aren't any material links.

Cleverley link is there but there's 'bigger' clubs wanting him now.

There's been rumours about a Serie A player and going back for the Polish player (not happening).

Brady is always rumoured with us and a £10m bid got rejected for him today (from Crystal Palace I think).

How much do we have to spend? What do you accept as an absolute minimum in terms of business for us in this window?

If we do nothing else - would you be happy?

I thought we were going to get 2 players in (3 max). With Barton being one, I expect we'll bring one more player in and that'll be it. I just hope it's a wide player with quality.

To be truthful I can see it being a bit of a stinker.
Everyone is struggling even if you have the money, theres no decent players out there....Scott Hogan 15 million, really! The difference is that our normal shopping centre (Championship) is no longer playing the game. They realise at this stage there is the potential for the big day in the sun, and they are quite clearly going for it...the time to catch them is in August not now.

4 more wins and the same on draws and we are nearly there....gonna be a close one.

I hear you and agree with most of it.

The issue for me is that I believe a £15m 'average' player for us (hopefully a winger) is the difference between staying up and going down.

We need options in this 2nd half of the season and somebody running down the wings and putting in a cross isn't one of them atm

Not unlike previous windows where hopes and expectations are, as time advances,
gradually downgraded to close to zilch.

I'm already at that stage now so don't expect much more than Barton.
Possibly one more but who that may be is anybody's guess although, as others
have suggested would like a pacy winger. Ideally another forward too
especially if Bamford returns to Chelsea.

In terms of what we have to spend then I would guess up to 15m.
An absolute minimum for me would be 2 players in.

Wouldn't feel particularly happy if it was just Barton.
In fact, if that was the case would feel mote than a tad miffed.

Difficult for the club, because we're doing very well (away form aside) and fees in January are even more astronomical than in the summer.

However, because we're doing so well, we're better placed than we were in 2010 and 2015 to build on the first half of the season and push on. We're certainly a far more attractive prospect than we have ever been previously.

If we don't invest and were to be relegated the board/recruitment team would come in for very heavy criticism that would not be easily forgotten.

I would like to see JBG out on the left and his right footed equivalent out on the right, signed in this window. That's it, that's all I ask.

Surely that's doable, no?

This is how it seems right now, I won't mind If we don't do any more business If the other teams struggle too.
But If our direct rival's do snap up what quality there is out there and we're left empty handed it will be a bit of a blow.

Seems that no one knows what we are upto behind the scenes in transfer windows. (I agree with this, stops us from getting shafted by richer clubs, as long aa we keep the agent quiet) People just wished if a deal was going to happen it would happen quicker.

Happy so far, as I am a Barton fan, still think we need 2 more, one being a quality wide man.

Another Striker and a pacy Wide Man for me. Though I would settle for just the pacy Wide Man.

We should already know who we want and be prepared to pay the going rate.
January is not the time for negotiations, the ground work should have already been done(ie) player availability and price.

I thought we were 2 wingers, 2 CMs, 1 FB and 1 quality striker short at the start of the last window. We plugged some gaps with JBG, Hendrick, Defour (but lost Jones), Flanagan and Bamford. With Barton back, that makes us just a winger short, but given Bamford has hardly featured, I think we are probably short of a real Premier League striker too. You can argue Gray and co have shown they are capable in this league, but I still think we miss the clever, quality link up play of someone like Danny Ings - a number 10 of sorts. An injury / suspension to 1 or 2 of Vokes/ Barnes /Gray makes us almost toothless.

So, as far as I'm concerned, a winger and a striker are the priorities. But I wouldn't say no to a creative midfielder too. 2 out of 3 and I'll be happy. 1 out of 3 and I'll call it satisfactory. 0 out of 3 and I won't be surprised. More than 3 and I'll need to go and lie down!!

I'm hoping the lack of news is proof that we aren't leaking stuff to the press and like a graceful swan there is lots of kicking of legs that you can't see

Perfect January for me

Bamford recalled, Kightly sold/loaned, O'Neil loaned

Centre Mid (perm), Pacey Winger and Strker who can play the lone role in 4-5-1 (1 perm, 1 loan)

Acceptable January for me

Centre Mid (perm), Pacey Winger (perm or loan depending if we manage to offload Bamford)

Ideally we can get next year's allocated players in to bed in.
Well any new signing will struggle to get in the side

I will be happy with just one purchase that improves our first 11.
Happy joey is back.
To be fair I would be after Snodgrass.

Hopefully that would mean they go down and his free kicks keep us up.

I'd be happy to stump all our spending on either Brady or Snodgrass.

Snodgrass and Brady would be around £20m which is around the money we should have to spend
Crying out for some pace on the wings
I don't like the fact that the back up is currently Kightly
