Which team has dropped the most places?
Which team has dropped the most places?
I just wondered whether Stockport have dropped the most places for a team that were once in the equivalent of the Championship?
Are there any other clubs that have dropped father down the leagues that haven't gone bust or into administration that forced them to be docked points?

Stockport happened over a decade and a bit mind you. I doubt you'll see a quicker decline then Portsmouth.

Grimsby?
Weren't they on the edge of the PL once?

Nelson have taken a long time over it, but they're the same club that once beat Real Madrid and Manchester United in the same season. (Both away.)

Didn't Northampton, early 60s, have 3 successive promotions followed by 3 successive relegations?

It'll soon be Coventry.
Rarely seen a demise as rapid. Think it coincided with their move from Highfield road.

Both are OK.Imploding Turtle wrote:Further.
Farther connected to a (physical) journey from A-B.
it depends if you think dropping down leagues is physical (farther) or metaphorical/figurative (further). In this case it might be argued that neither
word is particularly suited, but as pointed out by etymologist have a similar root and in most instances are synonymous.
Edit - have used the singular of etymologists - this is a mistake (I should have used the plural of etymologist)
I know that farther is now rare in usage terms but is still the word of choice when replying to a post using the word father as it makes more sense structurally and within the context of the original. The use of Further, in this particular case would have been crass.
If the OP had used his term 'Father' as a verb I would of course been wise to use "Further" in my reply.
In my view the word "Father" is being used as an adverb (The verb being used was to drop) in which case Farther was an excellent choice for me to use.

Tranmere Rovers used to be in Division One and even made the playoffs a few times I think (before it became the Championship). They're now in the National League.
