I don't usually sing out about these things, especially as time progresses, but I thought that I would share some of the "decade" milestones since my birth.
I was born in 1947, Burnley at Wembley in the cup final and promoted to the first division.
1957 and Burnley were doing OK in the first division, finishing a respectable 7th.
1967 Our "God in a green jersey" is the hero in Naples as Burnley earn a draw in the Fairs cup
1977 by now plying our trade in the second division, Burnley finished 16th, escaping the drop with just two games to go.
1987 so much has been written about this momentous season finale. I admit to being one of he grown men who cried at the final whistle
1997 now in the new styled second division, we finished 9th. This was the season that Paul Barnes scored five against our old adversaries, Stockport County (who?)
2007 now in our 125th anniversary season and back in the second tier, we suffered a nineteen game winless streak. Final position 15th.
2017 Back in the big time. It's pinch myself time. Top half position in the best league in the world.
Unbelievable journey through euphoria and dark depths, but I would not support any other team in the whole world. UTC

I had a, shall we say, significant birthday last week reaching the age of 65.

1952 - born on FA Cup 3rd round day - beat Hartlepools (with an s) United 1-0 at home with goal from Les Shannon
1962 - Almost did the double and I saw us in an FA Cup Final at Wembley.
1972 - Preparing for one of those memorable seasons when we won promotion to the top flight
1982 - Promoted back to second division
1992 - Out of the fourth division finally after 7 long years
2002 - Almost made the play offs - just one goal short
2012 - Sean Dyche appointed manager of Burnley Football Club

One thing that gives me such pleasure at the moment is seeing the youngsters smiling and cheering as they watch the Clarets in the Premier League today. I wonder what milestones they will talk about in 50 or 60 years from now? UTC
