Is it becoming less of a product ? Had it for years but box broken and not paying them to fix it. Seems to be plenty to watch on TV via Internet now.

Depends what you want from it really.
I've got it, currently waiting for the engineer to come out in Feb and install Sky Q, which I'm only getting because its cost me £15 to upgrade instead of £250 but that's down to a sky engineer I know handing out upgrade codes.
I've also got Netflix and amazon TV because there's stuff on there I like to watch.
I'm too lazy nowadays to spend my time looking for films or TV series to watch on links online, if I'm that interested in watching a new film I'll go to the cinema.
I've just watched Afflecks new one, Live by Night, actually not a bad film.

It doesn't cost £250 to upgrade to Sky Q.

Last time I checked it cost me more then I was willing to pay and I vaguely recall it costing £200 plus quid.
With the deal I've got I get the 1TB box, plus a smaller one all for £15.
See the screen shot below, I can't check it on Sky's site because my account already has it set up for the upgrade.

I cancelled Sky about 6 weeks ago. Just buy an Amazon fire stick. So many great things to watch on there without paying a premium (of you're a Prime customer). So many options these days. I might return to Sky when they make their prices competitive again.

Just got myself a couple android boxes for living room and bedroom, got bt infinity and it feels blooding fantastic to be free of sky! There's so much more of interest for me on the boxes! I can install whatever add-ons I want. Didn't use most of the channels that were on sky! Plus it's saving me around £900 a year!

Does the Firesitck or any of these other options have the same recording facilities, playback, series links etc which Sky has?

I think they've reached a plateau and I'll ditch it. I can go to the pub to watch any games.

This is the part no one mentions when they've thrown their toys out of the pram and got themselves a stick of some sort.
Personally it's one of the main reasons I stick with Sky, it's got everything going on that I need because my memory is rubbish at the best of times.
Plus Virgin isn't available in new build houses last time I checked, because as far as I'm aware they're still operating on the old Cable & Wireless network from 15 years ago.

The Firestick isn't linked to live TV, it's more like Netflix, but with wider choice. Loads of films, tv series and music. Lots of original Amazon series like Man in the High Castle, Transparent, Start Up, The Grand Tour (if you like Clarkson and co.). Lots of good kids TV which is needed in my house as well! I have Netflix as well, and freeview through my old Sky box obviously, so I have access to more things than I can possibly watch. The only cost is Netflix and a decent internet connection.
The only thing I miss from Sky is probably Sky Atlantic. Other than that I don't miss it at all. I never had Sports or Movies though, so I guess there's not a great deal to miss!!

I've survived with a second-hand Youview box for the last few years, and to be honest cannot understand why anyone pays anything to Sky.
Can record, remotely if needs be, and I've got access to the major on-demand apps, with a brilliant EPG. Pay nothing more than the £12.12 per month licence fee.
There are ways of getting sport in high definition via other means, and can also get HD access to any other big name shows not shown already on freeview or available on netflix.
Seriously don't know why anyone would pay £125 month, £70 a month, whatever, for a few hundred channels of the utter sh*te offered by Sky.

I certainly wouldn't say I threw my toys out of the pram with Sky, I just realised that I was paying £70 a month for a combined Sky package (I didn't have Sports or Movies) that offered very little. Every 12-18 months I was ringing up and reducing the cost of my plan but then I'd start getting letters in the post saying my subscription was increasing by £1, £2 per month and suddenly I was back paying £60+ a month again. And to be honest I was watching more on Netflix than Sky so it was a no brainer for me. If you've got the full Sky package you've probably got a different view on this but for me it was money down the drain.

I understand and it can be linked to an android box to enable recording however we've recently invested in a firestick & installed kodi myself.
Searchbfor any program/file you want to watch and it's available.
Last night I reassured the new series of Blue Bloods had started last week on Sky Atlantic. Searched on kodi and hey presto I'm watching it as "catch-up"
It really is simple. Even my mum is using one now

I think part of the issue is that US series will be screened over there first and then here a month, maybe a year, after (or not at all). That was fine in years gone by but now it's easy to see when shows are released, read reviews (and spoilers), see when the next series is on, etc.
The TV companies haven't adjusted to this though and still want to work to their scheduling.

Fair comment, however the bigger series are now the next day or possibly same day like GoT's has done.

You don't need playback, series link or recording facilities. Everything you want is on there whenever you want to see it. They even leave the games up there for a few days on Sportsmania, plus the ones Sky don't show.
As Fibre broadband and android boxes become more widespread I'm not sure how Sky compete anymore.

Aye, and stuff from BT, Netflix etc. You need a decent broadband speed and a bit of time to set it up. You can add Sportsmania for about £1 a week and then you can watch any major sport from around the world, plus every Premier league game.

Yes I believe you can, same with most other tv providers.
When you go to cancel your SKY tv package you'll need to check that you're not tied in to an 18 month deal or something like that first, which normally happens when you make an upgrade.

Definitely worth buying one - I watch less tv now but more of what I actually want to watch since switching to the firestick and Kodi.
Rather than trapsing through recorded things or channels I dont have any interest in. I can watch Peruvian football on a Friday night and the latest movies/tv series on a Wednesday night.
It just makes everything available that sky has (with certain add ons) as well as a whole libraby of any film/tv show you can imagine (from oldddd films right up to new releases in the cinemas)..... And all for free (or a few quid a month if you go down the Sportsmania etc.. Route).

It was good for a couple of months but then went a bit dodgy.
Think Selhurst Park use it now but are still waiting for it to work - Apparently it's alright as long as you dont mind a poor quality stream and spending a fair bit of money.

Hi guys, ditched Sky at Christmas. I've got kodi on main PC and modbro on tab.
I used to save from Sky to a HDD I have, then edit and save to disc.
I can still do this from free to air, MOTD, but can an android box be linked to a HDD?

Live football - pay nothing to Sky or BT ever again.
Just go along to the Plumbe St Miners. Pay 20p entrance fee, pie and peas £2:00, great craic and cheap beer.
And Benedictine on draft.

Out of curiosity, how does Plex does do that? It's normally used for accessing your own media, is it some kind of add-on?
