Mrs 3putt and I recently acquired a 5 month old miniature schnauzer from the Dogs Trust, he's a lovely little chap and settling in nicely after a tricky start to his life.

We are committed to travelling abroad for 6 nights at the end of April at which time he will be 9 months old. We will reluctantly need to board him or place him kennels whilst away and concerned that he is a bit young but have no choice.

Was therefore wondering if any fellow Clarets, could perhaps strongly recommend a good kennels in the Burnley area or perhaps the alternative home dog care arrangements?

Any help or suggestions much appreciated.

We use a new one called all creatures great and small heading to barnoldswick from barrowford over the tops. It's not cheap but very nice, not too big as in loads of dogs. Nice people too.

Find someone to "house-sit".

Your home is safer, if you can trust the person and animals are happier in their own environment.

i took mine to that place over pendle, really placcid dog. when i went to collect him , he almost bit my head off !!

the girl told me he had been "sharing a kennel." ...with a sodding panther i assumed . never again.

3putt, Have a look at trusted housesitters site,this is a site where people will look after your pets normally without charge in your own home.

We have a greyhound and a saluki and use people from this site normally twice a year.

During the five or so years of using this site we have had Americans, a Canadian couple an Austrailian actress who has appeared in Neighbours (honest)

plus people from the UK.

After you have joined trusted housesitters you put an advert on their site giving details of when you require someone to petsit for you an wait for a response. We normally receive around ten applicants and pick who is the most suitable.

The sitters will require internet access and in our case transport as we live a couple of miles from the nearest town.

We use Stainthwaite Kennels near the Cross Gaits, Blacko. No complaints at all and our two pampered pooches seem happy enough there,

I would say she actually did well to get a job as a dog sitter after appearing in Neighbours.
