Sean Dyche 199 not out
I was checking something the other night, ahead of the Sunderland game, and realised Sean Dyche had been manager for 198 games. The replay made it 199 and so this Sunday he'll be in charge for the 200th time. Also, the second goal scored by Andre Gray was our 250th under his management.
His record
League: p 184, w 78, d 55, l 51, f 231, a 187
FA Cup: p 8, w 2, d 2, l 4, f 11, a 13
League Cup: p 7, w 3, d 0, l 4, f 8, a 3
Total: p 199, w 83, d 57, l 59, f 250, a 203

Re: 200 for Dyche
More impact than the number of games would imply.
Changed the beliefs and values of the whole squad.

Re: 200 for Dyche
Hadn't seen the other thread, merged mine in now. His record is staggering if you consider that almost 60 of those games have been in the Premier League.

A great win ratio by anyone's standards!

Re: 200 for Dyche
His record, despite the difficult start, in the Championship is remarkable.
I've kept this table which is each manager's record in Championship games only since we won promotion in 2000.
Steve Davis: p 1, w 1, d 0, l 0, f 1, a 0, pts 3, pts/per game 3.00
Terry Pashley: p 3, w 2, d 0, l 1, f 5, a 7, pts 6, pts/per game 2.00
Sean Dyche: p 125, w 63, d, 41, l 21, f 180, a 103, pts 230, pts/game 1.84
Owen Coyle: p 77, w 32, d 21, l 24, f 111, a 107, pts 117, pts/game 1.52
Brian Laws: p 22, w 8, d 8, l 6, f 34, a 29, pts 32, pts/per game 1.45
Stan Ternent: p 184, w 73, d 44, l 67, f 245, a 282, pts 263, pts/game 1.43

Re: Sean Dyche 199 not out
How have we conceded just three in seven league cup games but lost four? I dont remember going out on penalties? Unless the goal for accy for example that came in extra time doesnt count? That being the case though surely we have drawn a league cup game?ClaretTony wrote:I was checking something the other night, ahead of the Sunderland game, and realised Sean Dyche had been manager for 198 games. Won more than Howe and Coyle combined.
Lost less than Howe and Coyle individually in 1.5 times more games. Has a plus 77 goal difference - Stan and SC on minus and Howe on 0.
Lost only 1 in 6 .

Re: 200 for Dyche
Fantastic record and I wanted him before he came, couldn't remember his name, kept saying guy with the ginger hair and deep voice on Sky, was at Watford

Wish I had known is name would have backed him to become next Manager just for the Craic

Re: 200 for Dyche
Its a pretty remarkable record and especially considering his patchy start.
I still cannot help wondering though how much better off we would be with ABLUE and KRBFC as a joint management team.

Re: 200 for Dyche
I was against hiring him back then. I may have to concede I was wrong now. 199 games is probably more than a honeymoon period.

Wouldn't have been too upset to see him leave after his first 30 games or so.
Funny old game.

Plenty slate Laws / not sure many hero worship Howe.Goobs wrote:And yet some slate Laws and hero worship Eddie. Stats are strange things sometimes
Laws made some awful signings and seemed a long way out of his depth - but didn't really get much of a chance
Howe spent little considering the great players he brought in.

Re: 200 for Dyche
Laws made some good signings and was doing ok. No worse than we were indee Dyche last Christmas. Granted Dyche had some slack from his previous full championship season.
Marney is still a vital player for us almost 300 games after Laws left!!

Re: 200 for Dyche
Are signings down to the managers or Management team as I wonder at sometimes if a players bio is put to the manager with expected cost, wages etc. and they are just asked, do you want us to try to get him? or does the manager have scouts who he asks to keep an eye on certain players and he then makes a decision on them when the scout gets back to him, just a guess but I would expect different managers have different ways, Howe good with cheap attacking players, and Mr Dyche came up trumps with Scotty.TVC15 wrote:Plenty slate Laws / not sure many hero worship Howe.

Re: 200 for Dyche
An interesting thing looking at those stats is the goals per game (for and against)
For Against
Sean Dyche: 1.44 0.82
Owen Coyle: 1.44 1.39
Brian Laws: 1.55 1.32
Stan Ternent: 1.33 1.53
Eddie Howe: 1.40 1.40
Steve Cotterill: 1.03 1.07
Dyche scoring at the same rate as Coyle is a bit surprising (but a much better defence), Laws with the best scoring record, Ternent with the worst defence and, least surprising of all, Cotterill with the worst scoring record.

Re: 200 for Dyche
The problem laws had was been brought in halfway through a transfer window and having to make snap decisions on what he knew of the squad ,he probably spent money on not who he wanted but on who he thought we needed under the circumstances he did well , better than most give him credit for

Re: 200 for Dyche
what a great time we have had under sir Dyche, admittedly the first games were hard to watch but you could see what he was trying to achieve.
stop conceding goals and we had enough good forward players to nick games.
