He is such a liability! Get him out of the team ASAP.
Can't get over how many points he has cost us this season.

Wrong. Heatons fault. Simple save but he fluffs it and they get a corner. Or linesmans fault. Offside. Again.

Went for the ball, if he hadn't you would be moaning as well, offside anyway so stitched up by officials again.

I get what you mean with Mee.
Looks to get wrongside a lot, but you need the people to do their jobs correctly.
Heaton then lino.
3 mistakes usually gets you punished.

He's not our best defender. It's not trolling if it's a fact. He has cost us so many points this season.
Keane and Tarkowski should be our starting partnership.

Mee is always 100% committed to tackles and most of the time he wins them, but when he doesn't it always has scope to end in disaster.

But for the blip at the death Mee had been outstanding. Absolutely outstanding away at Arsenal no less.

He has also been part of a defence that has gained us a lot of points. He was excellent today. If you want to look for mistakes that cost us a point, look no further than the linesman who cannot spot a clear offside despite being in line

He has been part of a good defence. This game it was clear to see that Keane spends the majority of the game managing his team mates mistakes.

Mee obviously knew cockselny was behind him so tried to get a toe on it couple with the French twonk stooping low it's just a bit unfortunate again! BUT he shouldn't have lost his man in the 1st place! Still a rugged good defender! PLUS the twonk was offside!

Mee had no alternative than to go for the ball, he had a very good game ...Another poor linesmans decision cost us again

Yes, it was yet another "but for the blip" performance from our Ben unfortunately, which yet again led to a crucial goal against. Tarka's surely got the right to be banging down the gaffer's door now.

Cannot fault his commitment. Brilliant in the air for his height .......but......being caught out for pace at this level and has the odd rush of blood when he charges out with little chance of getting he ball. Poor distribution. Time to give Tarks a start in his natural position.

Pretty sure he cleared a ball off the line versus Southampton - not the first time. Decision against him and us was harsh today. Mind you, Tarks is too good to be on the bench.

The sooner we can use a video decision for contentious decisions the better the game will be, totally robbed again and its the same wan ker (Kosielny) guilty of it too....Wasn't Mee's fault explicitally but I think Tarkowski should be given a game now alongside Keane.

There's no doubt Mee has cost us a few times this season.
Unfortunately for this thread, today wasn't one of them.
It's never a penalty.

Keane and heaton had to swoop in and stop Ozil from scoring after he headed the ball straight up in the air.
His distribution was poor.
I must be one of the only people that notices he his targeted by the forwards in every game! There is a reason for that. It's because he is a weak link.
Good back up at this level. Let's get Tarks in the team. Plus Tarkowski has a natural advantage over Mee (he is a lot taller).

Agree with quoon.
If Koscienly starts in line, Mee doesn't have to stretch. As it is, Koscienly is offside, he benefits from an unfair head start and Mee is forced into sticking out a leg to try and defend the set piece.

The poison that exists on this board astounds me.
We're playing premier league football against some of the best players in the world, we will make mistakes, if we didn't we'd be somewhere around the top 6. Mee has done nothing wrong today, he's been a fantastic servant for our club and pond life like you can get stuffed trying to make a scapegoat out of him. For each mistake he's made here he's made an equal amount of last ditch challenges, courageous blocks and important clearances to contribute to our points tally. You can't focus solely on negatives without first recognising his contribution to the team.

Agree with Quoon it was not a penalty but we were lucky when ref didn't give the penalty to Arsenal when Grey looked like he fouled their player in the box.
It was a shame we couldn't create many good chances when they went down to 10 men.
I hated the way their mainly foreign players (they started with 10 and finished with 9) couldn't stand it when they didn't get their way.

Mee's brilliant but if anyone seriously believes he is a better defender then Keane then they do no watch or understand football

It was an error, one of many that are costing us points. For the remaining 99% of games Mee has been outstanding. He must gain us points with clean sheets. He costs us points with errors. It is up to Dyche whether he chooses to pick Ben on that basis, so Dyche will stand or fall on the decision.
That isn't anti-Ben, I like the lad, but Keane doesn't make the errors Mee does. I suspect Tarks wouldn't either. Maybe though they wouldn't get the blocks and things in that Ben does?
Koscielney was off and came back on, before going again. If anything Mee had the run on him but still was slow spotting the danger. It was nothing to do with the offside giving him an advantage. It was a simple issue of losing your man.

Absolutely spot on. I lost count of the number of crucial blocks be made today. The tackle he made on Welbeck when clean through was world class but nobody mentions that. The penalty absolutely WAS NOT a mistake by Mee, he's simply the one on the end of a poor decision from the officials.

His man came back onside then went again. The offside matters when assessing the lino, not when assessing Mee. As I have said though, he was excellent for the rest of the game.

So just to clarify, he's getting verbally battered for losing a man who's already offside?

It was a silly challenge by Mee. There was no need to do it and he absolutely had a choice. No way the Arsenal player was scoring from there. Definitely a penalty but then it was also clearly offside before that. Mee does get wrong side a bit too often and got caught out again here but overall was pretty good today. He has cost us a lot of points this season but probably gained us more. No way Dyche will drop him and would probably be a bit harsh but JT looks a great player.

Was offside, but why play for offside when we have so many players back in the box and really only needed to survive one more cross?
No criticism of Mee in particular, just a general observation

His man came back onside then went back offside again. Mee hasn't lost him, he's offside. It's a pretty basic concept of defending.
Why do you think Heaton is constantly shouting at them the get up? Why do you think defences hold a line?

I think what people are saying, is that we should be playing someone who defends like Mee but plays the ball out like Stones. A Bobby Moore type player, in fact. Tarkowski, since he's been at the club for a year and has barely played, is surely as good as Bobby Moore ever was, because that's the way it works with reserve players when you don't like the man in the first team.
Did you see the way Tarkowski defended against Sunderland reserves? We didn't let a goal in. Away to Arsenal, we conceded two; home to Sunderland reserves, we conceded nothing. I don't see that as proof positive that Tarkowski is better than Mee, but I think some people probably do.

Nope because Mee is more of an old school defender, Keane is the modern type that clubs are demanding.

They do both have different styles, but I think they're equally important. People saying Keane is making no mistakes need to realise that Keane is at a level that is beyond our Club. That's why he's been linked to the big clubs for big money. That does not mean that Ben Mee is still not having a great season, it's just not a fair comparison between the two.

But we are being told by posters he is the best defender at the club, and just for the record I am not a Ben Mee hater far from it, just too many costly errors.
