Heaton interesting other clubs.

"Everton are one of three clubs interested in signing Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton, according to a report.

The Sun claim that the Toffees want to sign the 30-year-old shot stopper, but face competition from league rivals Manchester City and Liverpool for his signature."

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, but I haven't seen it. If memory serves he's been linked with Everton before. The same article mentions a price of 15 million.

Might be lazy journalism linking him to clubs with poor Keepers, but clearly his form is attracting interest.

Keep up the good work Tom, and fingers crossed you'll be in a Burnley jersey after the summer transfer window.

He's certainly better than the current first choice keepers at the clubs mentioned.

I completely agree, apart from De Gea and Lloris there aren't many better. He's so crucial to our team and back four as a whole I'd be very worried if he left. Deserves his chance at a top club if it comes calling though.

At his age, it may well be his last chance of a big payday, he could well be tempted and who could blame him.

They wanted him before the start of last season unless I'm mistaken? Hopefully he's content here as captain, invaluable to us

Even Loris made a bad mistake at the weekend. You just don't see clangers from Tom. You could say he should have held onto the ball just before Arsenal's winner but that's hardly a clanger, he still made the save.

Love him.

As he's one of the best, if not the best, English keeper around at the moment I'd have been mighty surprised if he wasn't on the radar of other top clubs.

The Sun, eh?

Must be true then! ;)

In all fairness this year I'd probably say Tom has been the best keeper in the Prem, but overall you'd probably have to say Lloris and De Gea.

As you've said one of Toms biggest strengths is his consistency, he seems to have improved his shot stopping while he's been with us as well, which has pushed him on to the next level imo.

If the offer was right (and in the summer, not now) Tom would go with my blessing as hard as that may be for the team. He deserves the plaudits and recognition and also a big pay day contract that we may not be able to offer him. Not to mention that he may be England no 1 choice soon, and that chance would only be reinforced with a place in a top 6 team.

He wouldn't want to be the last line of defence with City, because there isn't an adequate first line of defence at times.

Liverpool - also have defensive issues.

Once both teams sort out their respective issues then the issues with the Keepers may also be resolved.

With Tom having spent most of his career on the bench I reckon he would be more than happy here playing all the time. If a big club guaranteed him first team football then it might be a different matter.

Wouldn't happen, Hart will remain as number 1, Butland / Forster as next options followed by Heaton.

If Tom stays at Burnley I wouldn't expect the pecking order for England to change. But that's another point I suppose, he's more likely to start for England with a top 6 club which could be another pull for him.

It's untrue to say he's spent most of his career on the bench.

Butland out until next season and on current form Forster is a mile behind Tom.
England's No.2

A number of our players appear to be linked to other clubs be it
Heaton, Keane and others (was it Boyd, and Tarkowski?) which I suppose is good news for us
as long as none of them leaves now.

Whether we stay up or go down then we will need to rebuild in the summer
as we can expect to lose a few especially IF we go down.
We'll also have one or two players reaching their sell by date.

IF we could get 15m for Heaton then that would be a considerable amount
and say 20m+ for Keane we'll have a decent sum to reinvest irrespective of whether we stay up or go down.

I would be gutted if Tom went, I could accept anyone else leaving but not our Tom.

Let him go?

NO NO NO

If we want to stay in the Premier league then we must keep him at all costs. Even if it means a 24 hour military presence on the Burnley boundary!

Definitely wouldn't want him to go, but if the opportunity came calling I would not begrudge him a move, it's hard to think of someone more deserving.

Manchester city would be a weird club to come in for him. They have packed off the 'first choice' England goalkeeper off to Italy because he can't play the ball well with his feet, whilst then bringing in the England 'second/third choice' who is not famous for ball play either.

... but he's utter garbage, he was signed from a relegated club wasn't he?

Ok then. He has played more for Burnley in 3 years than he has the rest of his clubs put together.

Heaton is without doubt irreplaceable, but, saying that Pope has the attributes to go far in the game and similar to Tarks replacing Keano, could we have a replacement in Pope?

A little early to tell, but will look forward to his development, and no better teacher and role model than Heaton.

Lloris performance was laughable on Saturday. He can be very good though I admit that.

Would go with our fans blessing to a big club I'm sure as long as it was summer. Then we could poach Pickford from the freshly relegated Sunderland...

Tom is Burnley through and through. End of discussion.
