Has anyone ever been to a Chiropractor?

I've always been one for "evidence based" medicines, but lately, watching numerous videos and what not on YouTube on Chiropractors and their patients, has me wondering how well they work for every day pains/aches etc.

Anyone offer any advice? I'm not in any agony or pain as such but I get a flair up on a monthly or so basis where my neck and head just scream in pain and I cannot move, it lasts most of the day but is gone by the time I sleep and wake up. I also have awful posture from years sitting at a desk too.

Thanks guys!

Had a problem with my neck and shoulder and went to an osteopath on recommendation. It certainly helped me. Posture and stress can exacerbate the problem.

I have a slightly rotated pelvis, resulting in a curvature of the spine.
On one side of my pelvis/lower back, the muscles are always bunched up more then the other side and occasionally everything gives up and I can barely walk.
(its apparently quite amusing to see me try walking when its all gone).

Chiropractor can sort it right out and I'd highly recommend seeing one.
Although the number of cracking noises my body made was slightly alarming, the results were brilliant.

I booked a massage on holiday in the canaries once with a trapped nerve in my backside. My vision of a dainty tanned lass with soft hands and a cabinet full of essential oils was replaced with the reality of a 20 stone hairy bloke putting me in a full nelson before making everything crack. He seemed frustrated that I struggled to relax. My trapped nerve didn't improve. Still wounded by the experience.

I visit a place in Blackburn named Core Clinic which is brilliant.

Can come across a bit pricey at around £40 a session - If you want to see if it's for you and try it out then have a look on the groupon/wowcher pages because they have a few chiros on there and you'll save a few quid on your first sessions.

A 17-stone ex-rugby playing South African is my chiropractor and he sorts out all types of aches and pains in no time at all. It's not just back pain either. Definitely not mumbo jumbo. It really works. And the sound and feel of bones cracking during manipulation is actually quite therapeutic and painless. Go for it.

Would also highly recommend a chiropractor. Used to have loads of lower back problems and have consulted physios, osteopaths, naturpaths and a chiropractor. For me the Chiropractor was bar far the most helpful. Scott Middleton with practices in Salford and Wilmslow is very highly regarded.

Strongly recommend acupuncture. Didn't believe in it one bit until doctor organised a course for my wife at Burnley. She'd suffered severe lower back pain since a car accident 30 years before and had tried most things.
After completing the course she has been pain free for over 10 years.

Strongly recommend a chiropractor. Particularly a "core" chiropractor. Trapped nerves and bulging discs for years until I first went to one. It's not quackery, it's really just a lot of good common sense and gentle manipulation into the posture your body should actually be in. Then ensuring you maintain that by strengthening your core muscles.

Thanks all.

Yeah I've always dismissed the idea of what we call "alternative therapies" etc but chiropractic care seems to make sense.

I'll have a look round and speak to some that are relatively local to see if it's appropriate for me.
