Excellent left back but Ward is one of if not the most consistent player in our team.
Other areas are of greater importanace but he would improve the squad as we have little or no cover at left back.

Not likely, unless he is the new Brady.

He would be a great signing. The only chance we'll have of getting him will be if they're relegated and we stop up though. Can't see anything happening this month.

Ward has been in form all season, left back so far down the list of priorities for me.

As much as I agree, we're only an injury to Ward away from having a problem.
Flanagan simply isn't good enough at left back. He looks ok on the right, but he looks pretty awful on the left in my opinion. Mee at left back wouldn't be the answer in the Premier League either. I have no doubt he'd be absolutely fine defensively but he wouldn't carry the same threat getting forward. If the opportunity arises to bring in someone who can challenge Ward for his place then I'd be tempted to pursue it if only to strengthen that position for the longer term.

Any are of improvement will do for me.
I'd love to get in 2/3 players with a view to improving the team/squad for next season.
Robertson/Taylor
Stephens/another
Winger
Would be a window that dreams are made of.

That's understandable jlup but we don't have the money to bring in an expensive young left back, paying him high wages to be there in case Ward gets injured.
It might be something considered in the summer however but I don't think it's the best use of funds.
I have been completely stunned at how poor Flanagan has been, but for the rest of the season he is going to deputise both full backs. Hope he can turn a corner against Bristol City.
Get a winger in pronto

ESPN FC are as bad at HITC for reliability. I'm pretty sure I remember somebody on here mentioning that he's a good player and would be a good signing (just a few days ago) - that's probably their source!

I love the americanism in ESPN articles.
'a source close to the player'
Literally anyone can say that and be bullshitting. When pressed you just say 'sorry I don't name my sources.'

Sort of player we should be adding to the potential list for summer, should we retain PL status. Youthful upgrades pretty much across the team should be the order of the day.

He's always looked a bit suspect defensively to me. Decent enough in an attacking sense though. Seems an unlikely signing at this point, but if we stay up & Hull go down that could change.

He's a good left back, and as much as I like Ward, Robertson would be an upgrade. Almost a decade younger to boot.
Liverpool were linked for £12m in the summer.

7 changes. Looks like the managers having a look at the squad.
Looking decent to say arguably their 3 best players out.

Ward has been an unsung star of our team, no wonder when he couldn't get in the team, Brighton were buzzing about after him.

If there's any truth in this one and we did get him then
there's obviously something seriously going wrong at Hull.
Getting rid of three of their best players? Doesn't make sense.
Having said that everyone seems to think Hull are playing much better than results
suggest and might feel that they're still in with a chance of 'doing a Leicester'.
Having beaten United tonight and deservedly so without Livermore, Snodgrass and Robertson playing
then it suggest they have a decent starting eleven.

Ward has been excellent and also acts like a 3rd Centre back at times. Also great bombing down the wing.

A Hull fan I know says there are two sets of rumours. One that the owners are asset stripping the club and the other that they're going to be making some big signings before the end of the window.

It seems the players who had their 12 month extension activated by Hull just before the window opened are available for transfer in order to save from them leaving for nothing.
realistic strategy for players with 6 months left this time next year more than likely in the championship.
Livermore and Snodgrass already gone for 10 mill apiece whilst Hernandez and Robertson are strongly linked with other clubs.
That leaves Dawson and Maguire (the latter has been playing out of his skin).
Dawson will have little or no resale value in 18 months so will probably be exempt from the cull.

Agreed re Maguire - imagine a midfield pairing of him and Tarkowski (insert smiley face).
I'd take Huddlestone in CM but I know Sean would be cross with me.

Sees a bit pointless making big signings if the likes of Snodgrass are being allowed to leave. Why not just keep them till the summer?

With just 12 months left on a contract "most" players would run it down and leave for nothing.
If Snodgrass did decide to leave in the summer his fee would be nowhere near his true value as the club are then in a precarious bargaining position similar to us with charlie austin.
With Hull having a new manager and effectively clearing the decks the January window is a bonanza if you play your cards right with desperate clubs willing to pay big money.
I believe Robertson is in a similar position and hull have already taken the decision to sell him and Hernandez and their team performance without them against Utd tonight won't have them changing their strategy before the window closes.

If there really is a chance that Hull are cashing in their assets then Sam Clucas would go a long way to filling the CM gap left by Dean Marney.

It's a bit of a mess at Hull really at the moment, and the next few days are going to decide their fate for a few years I think.
There are protests against the owners and a lot of discontent behind the scenes. Their best players are leaving, but there is a belief they may be replaced, others suspect it's asset stripping. If it is the latter and the owners are trousering the proceeds, relegation could start a difficult to reverse spiral.
There is another side to this however, performances have been improving it seems and a few new faces have arrived in the last week. So who knows.

Manure played at 80% and De Gea was rarely troubled. I'd be amazed if they got out of the doodoo. Especially when they'll be wearing name tags for the next few weeks.
Robertson is better than Ward going forward but I'll stick with what we know.

I think we'll definitely bring in at least one more player. There's definite interest in Robertson so this could definitely happen.
Marney's injury & Bamford leaving may force us to look at other positions though and push this back to the summer.
