Running Football (5-a-side) Todmorden

Was reading claretforshaw's post on walking football and was agreeing with the benefits of exercise coupled with fun......

Just wondered if any clarets fancied a game of 5-a-side on Sunday nights?

We play every Sunday at 5:30pm INSIDE at Todmorden sports centre for an hour. We have a fairly wide range of abilities and ages (16-65)! We've lost a few players recently due to anything from emigrating to being banned from playing by the Mrs! Cost is £4 or £5 depending on numbers.

So, get to 5-a-side for 5:30pm, play an hour, build up a thirst, shower, change and stop off for a refreshing drink.... I can see why some got banned.

My 5-a-side was Monday nights 9pm OUTSIDE (alongside AFC Wimbledon's ground). 3-G pitch. Cold, very cold, some nights.

Sorry, I can't get up to Tod. Good luck recruiting.

Thanks Stevie, email sent.

If anyone else is thinking about giving it a go please feel free to get in touch. We start off running but gradually get slower as the game goes on!

Post 5 did make me laugh and bring back some great memories. I ran a 5-a-side league in the eighties at the College I worked at in Central London. There were about ten student teams, one staff team and one guest team of my mates.
We played Monday evenings, 5-6 in Jubilee Hall, Covent Garden just by the London Transport Museum. It was very competitive and a good workout...3 teams played each Monday and it was fierce when the teacher's team played my mates..I ran it for about 5/6 years and it was very popular - play the football, showers and retire to the Marquess of Anglesey on Bow St for 'after match review' and about 5 pints of Youngs Bitter undoing all the good work..not sure I could do it now but I was a mean hombre back then..

I'm probably 6 months too late on this but is the offer still out there for the 5-a-side on Sundays? Not played in a year or so, so I'd be rusty to say the least. I'm new to the area (regret to say I'm not a Burnley fan either) and have been looking out for any local 5 or 6 a side leagues, not really found anything yet though. This thread is the first thing that pops up when you put '5-a-side Todmorden' into Google'. Thought it'd be worth a shot on the off chance you're still looking for player every now and then.
Cheers.
