If you're just looking to see the Burnley games you can just subscribe to Sports Nation. It's the same as Sports Mania who are not accepting new registrations. Then just watch through your browse

I've also discovered streaming this week - mainly because my Sky HD box is about to pack up I think - and I normally come to these things a year or two behind everyone else!. Bought a firestick and it's really easy to add kodi - just search google for 'firestick kodi addon' and there are plenty of videos that take you through step by step. My next problem is getting onto a VPN - if anyone can help with that would be really grateful!

Check out 'private internet access' it can be bought through the play store. (£26 for the year)
Allows coverage of 5 devices and is very easy to use.
Best country setting I found is the Netherlands

I have been advised to stick with Jarvis for a while longer as version 17 is still

Google free VPN and have a look around. Some, apparently, have malware.
I use Hola unblocker but they use your PC for bandwidth, if you are comfortable with that?

I would stick with 16 mate I installed 17 and found it very unreliable,went back to 16.

Private Internet Access is good. Based on past reports I'd steer clear of Hola, lots of tales of security holes, bandwidth being used by botnets, etc.

From what I remember getting a VPN onto a firestick is a sod.

When I last tried 17 it was a bit slow and the menus didn't always render properly. 16 is fine at the moment.

NowTV boxes are rebranded Rokus. Plex is the most common thing to sideload. So far as I'm aware you can't install Kodi so Sportsmania would be a hassle.

The fire box is better but the fire stick will probably do the job well. I have the fire box and it is very smooth and I watch all of the games in HD and it's just like watching Sky.

Kyodo will sell you the amazon fire stick preloaded with Kofi for 55 quid. I got one and it came with a load of preloaded apps and addons........well worth the money

Firebox has twice as much memory as the firestick and the firestick gets very hot which can lead to stuttering watching live sports.

As far as I'm aware Kodi doesn't have an auto update function (I'm happy to be corrected tho as I've never found it)
For the add-ons, in each one there's a settings option, with an "auto-update" option.

Apps so to speak will auto update but eventually kodi will need to be reinstalled with a new build. There are idiot proof videos all over youtube and the net containing tutorials so best just to buy a stick/box and do it yourself from the beginning.
I have a firestick and fire box and suggest paying the extra and getting the box. Its much smoother if you wish to install a custom build on kodi.

On my firebox it occasionally buffers but not often. It's not like watching a link you've found on the internet. There are also usually several choices of which channel to watch the games on. Select Burnley v whoever then just choose which one to watch. I usually watch the American ones.

Pay the subscription for something like Sports Nation. If works out at £1 per week and you get everything for that.

Hey Hatfield, yeah not really had time to come around for a while. We are now back in South Africa and it has been a very long 10 weeks. H has had 6 weeks of very intensive rehab at a centre here in Cape Town and was released yesterday. We still have a long way to go. Very limited movement in her right leg, no movement in her right arm and we are having to teach her to read, write and speak again....it's incredibly frustrating for her as she is as sharp as a tack but jut can't communicate.

On a brighter note she has now become a Burnley fan....

Thanks to all re Kodi. I am looking at options for H to watch on her tablet as TV here in SA is not the greatest.....

When you use exodus most of the best links are openload links. You will need to visit openload.com/pair to get these links to work. You can do this on any device on your network. This enables you to watch the openload links for 24 hours. It just means visiting the link once a day, but really worth it. Just add it to your favs on your browser

Really interesting reading but not having any interest in technology I am struggling following much of the terminology on this.
I want to be able to get burnley away matches and watch a few movies and box sets.

Is there a relatively simple way of doing this? I am on virgin media broadband with a Sony wide screen TV, not a smart tv. Help!

It really couldn't be any simpler as what is discribed on here sid

2 options
1) Buy a £35 firestick, watch the videos on YouTube that are linked here and away you go. Took me a few hours to set mine up at first

2) Buy already done one for £50 from "a guy"

Smart tv isn't need led only a HDMI port & wifi.
Once it's done the stick can be plugged into any other tv where there's access to wifi.

Using it is simple. So much so that even my parents & mother-in-law now use one

Youll need to install kodi onto a laptop, you may also need to turn off parental controls or virgin shield or whatever it is called.
If you have an android tablet you can use that, just need to chrome cast it to yor tv. Google is your friend, you can get lots of advice on the many kodi discussion groups

I've done it all this week and I'm no tech expert so can confirm it's really easy. Got the firestick which takes about 10 mins to set up - no smart tv needed just a HDMI port. There are plenty of step by step videos on YouTube for installing Kodi - it takes about an hour but for me most of that was figuring out how to get past a setting n the BT Homehub router that was blocking the installation. Once that's done getting whichever addons you want (all mentioned on here) takes literally minutes.

Also followed advice on this thread (cheers!) to get onto a VPN. That's been the most awkward bit of the whole process but now all done!

If you watch a lot of tv or movies, or want access to pretty much every sporting event you can think of then for £35 you can't go wrong! I wish I'd got one years ago!

I'm not sure about the Fire Tv but I had some issues with the fire stick. It works perfectly fine for pre loaded content such as movies/documentaries etc but I have had issues with buffering when watching live sport through sportsmania. After 5 minutes a stream would start to buffer or the sound would go. I read some forums and tweaked some settings but it didn't help.

Having done a bit of reading up it appears that this could be an issue with the small memory cache on the fire stick, although its strange that some others don't have the same problem so maybe it's a combination of that and it overheating - considering it works perfectly fine when streaming pre-loaded content.

I wondered whether it was an issue with sportsmania but I've since tried that on a laptop and a PS4 and it's worked perfectly. I'll now watch sportsmania through my PS4 rather than my fire stick.

So just a word of warning that, in my experience, the fire stick isn't the most suitable for watching live sports.
