Boyd is wonderful.

said it many times before, but I rate this player immensely.

I know its a divisive thing with Georgie boy, but I really do like him.
His work rate is often commented about, but it is the manner in which he shuts opponents out which I find great.
That pace is used effectively all over the place. If you concentrate on the odd duff shot or misplace pass, its easy to dismiss him as having a poor to average game. Just watch how he shields the ball, look at how he forces players to make bad errors and lose control.
He does it time and time again. There would be a big gaping hole in the team if he was missing for any time believe me. Brilliant for Burnley. long may it continue.

Need to button down his contract or he may be off in about four months.

He's a machine of a man. He is far more suited to the Premier League where there is much less onus on him to create, rather that he be the catalyst for our pressing, game plan, which he absolutely excels at. He must make 20+ tackles per game, halting opposition attacks before they get the chance to really start.

Agree, any team below us would love to have him. To think he couldn't get a start for Hull!

He's perfect for us and integral to how we play, but he's limited going forward.

I've made my peace with that.

I just love what he does. Selfless running for the team. Those that cannot see his attributes, and what he brings to a team performance are myopic.

There was a point tonight in the first half where Leicester just looked shook and Boyd was leading the line and pushing their midfielders deep into their own half just trying to keep him (and others) away from them, not having a clue how to react to what was happening.

I dont think it's a coincidence that for 10 mins after that we just had their whole team shook to the point of them leaving our midfield to roam free and just created a 6 man barrier in their own box.

They tried out- Burnley'ing Burnley - and we came out on top.

UP THE F'IN CLARETS!!!

Thought he was poor as well, not in terms of work rate but his passing was a bit off. Especially that ball that was between Gray and Barnes. Been brilliant this season though so an off game is fine.

Agree with that, that's why you had so much possession, they let you have it and played on the counter, but still failed.

His work rate is inspirational to the rest of the team...he has a proper Burnley attitude to the game...never gives up and thats what we Burnley fans like...a grafter.

Some of his attempts of going going past a player were comical tonight.

Still a useful player but one I think should be upgraded on.

Its my opinion, your are entitled to yours, its just we disagree.

He did what he always does, he worked hard but in terms of being effective, I didnt think he was.

Lets see if Brady is an upgrade.

His hard work is effective. It stops the opposition from being able to get the ball, look up and pick out a pass. I'd absolutely hate to be attacking down a wing if he was my opposing midfielder.

No one would disagree he works his arse off and does great defensive work every time he turns out. The problem is his complete lack of pace to go past a man, his poor running off the ball in attacking positions where he does not make himself available enough, can't remember when he last put a decent cross in and the fact he generally does not offer enough going forward. Would like a bit more from a premier league player going forwards but great servant for the club. Would like to see him shooting more with that great left foot

What he lacks in quality he makes up for in effort; there's no doubting that. Fuchs got two great early crosses in last night, then he disappeared once George got on his tail. He basically closes a side off for us - tremendous.

Sums him up perfectly for me as well - the number of times last night that Lowton was looking for him to pass to down the line and he was almost in the centre of the pitch

A great servant to the club but we have to improve on him next season

See Brady more as a replacement for Arfield

George Boyd is as selfless a player/runner as I have seen in over half a century of watching the game. He doesn't hide, he works continuously. His style can be difficult to appreciate for many fans but Sean Dyche clearly knows the value of selecting him as a regular starter. His occasional goal strikes are also Burnley gems that regularly win points. Of course you see mistakes but he often leads from the front in closing down opponents which in turn often seems to revitalise his teammates when heads might otherwise drop. If forced out of being a starter as we continue to strengthen our group of players he'll be a great sub to use in specific circumstances. George has been good value and when he leaves he will continue to have a successful playing career.

Another brilliant performance from George last night. George gives 100% every game and he breaks down the opposition constantly, never giving them time to settle on the ball.

It was a lack of understanding for me.
Boyd played a beauty across the box IF Barnes had continued his run. Sadly Barnes found space at the edge of the box and stopped for the pull back. C'est la vie.
You can say C'est la vie when you've won.

Back near the start of the season an Everton supporting friend of mine asked if he could come with me to see the Clarets...I took him to the home game v Hull. At the end he asked ' Whos the one with long hair & head band? He's your best player! He's everywhere!'

I thought that was a really intelligent pass from Boyd which Barnes totally failed to anticipate - seeing it again on TV only reinforced my view. Boyd has been excellent for a number of matches now, especially at home. I agree that away from home we might need more quality on the ball, with Boyd a great option from the bench if we manage to get a lead somewhere.

He's a total credit to his profession though, as they all are, and I agree that he's a more effective player at Prem level than in the Championship, strangely.

Leicester fans would have loved to have 11 George Boyd's on the pitch last night

At our level in this league we need more grafters in our team than the likes of Everton and better teams. Marney falls into that category of player along with Boyd. I would guess that Westwood will too. Look at West Brom and Stoke who both have grafters who are never going to get MOM but will always get a pat on the back from fellow players and Manager who recognise it's a team game that requires a balance of players.

Boyd, like Arfield and Marney, really understand the system that Dyche uses. This understanding and their application to it more than makes up for any shortcomings in their skill and proficiency.
