I noticed QPR seem to be signing players again.
Has the transfer embargo been lifted and the extent of the fine for breaking FFP regulations been finalised?

No, they will likely agree a settlement figure before the final hearing later this year.

"Make 'em pay!"

They will...... I believe a settlement figure has already been agreed with the Football League. The original FFP fine (following promotion via the play-offs) was £58 million, comprising their Operating Loss for the year of £66 million minus the allowed £8 million threshold. Because of their promotion a transfer embargo did not apply but after relegation they only avoided refusal of their FL membership by contesting the original fine.

Didn't they get fined £8m and their owners wrote off about £170m of debt?

Fines are ridiculous. Points deductions and long term transfer embargos are what is needed. Hit these clubs where it really hurts (alongside actually enforcing them of course).

The owners wrote off over £60million of debt and 'adjusted' the operating loss for the year by making a double entry to the P/L account in order to reduce the loss to a figure in line with the accepted FFP threshold.

That was creative accounting at it's best and of course resulted in a failure to comply with FFP.

After two years of negotiation it seems that a settlement is imminent.

They'll get away with it to a degree lets be honest.
The league haven't got the balls to do anything harsh.

DCWat.......It's worth mentioning that from this season '16/'17 FFP has been replaced by new Profit and Sustainability rules where nothing is off the table in terms of punishments. The FL are now able to impose a points deduction during the present season or demote a club from an automatic promotion position into the play-offs (or out of the play-offs altogether). The transfer embargo remains in place.

Who/where does the money clubs are fined go?

I heard equally distributed to the others that complied but not 100% sure or someone was pulling my leg.

That won't happen because it would be sensible.

That was the original plan Macca but that was changed to the fines going to charity.

However, that changes again now with the new Profit & Sustainability rules as new punishments are in place.

FL clubs are assessed over a three year period based on the last two years operating results plus a forecast for the current season. The threshold loss for the three years is £39million.

Well it should go to the club's that complied. The offending club have had the edge over the rest of the teams, that in turn could adversely effect a clubs budget. Final league position, cup runs etc. The club's who complied should be compensated IMO.

As I say Macca, fines are now obsolete under the new rules.

Shame.

Like most things these days, The gains far outweigh the punishments

I thought they received a cut from Raheem Sterling's transfer and that money paid their fine ?

If they're not being fined an amount equivalent to the increased revenue from the premier league then you may as well game the system.
