Ski Season outside winter
Usually go to Europe every February / March but nothing booked this year and struggling for leave until April. Was looking at a long weekend in Scotland but snow has been non existent.
Anyone any recommendations for resorts for anything in May onwards - presumably nothing in Europe? Alternatively November / December.

Saas Fee, Switz is a possibility late April/May. Portes du Soleil France/Switz 650+km ski area ican also be recommended early season. There is normally a snow dump here in November.

Would probably be mid april onwards we would look at. Swiss sounds like a good option. Although pack lunches might be preferred. Was in Switzerland last week. £8 for a coffee!SunnyClaret wrote:Saas Fee, Switz is a possibility late April/May. Portes du Soleil France/Switz 650+km ski area ican also be recommended early season. Google the glacier ski resorts such as stubai , hintertux , kaprun and sass fee. They will all have skiing in may.

Finland not just cross country. Lower mountains but decent runs. Went to Levi years ago. Good place. (A tad nippy though. Got down to - 35 )

Tignes is always a good shout for a late season break, me and the wife went one April and had fresh snow and lots of sunshine. Massive area as well being linked with Val D'isere. Some Scandinavian resorts do have quite a bit of alpine skiing, but do a bit of research first because cross country is far more widespread than downhill.

Good idea. I did the same & took a flask of coffee, water etc. The vin chaud is recommended at the end of the day for 5 or 6 francs.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Would probably be mid april onwards we would look at. I've done Kaprun (albeit in winter) where you go up the Kitzsteinhorn (i think!). Fairly sure its open that time of year.

Yes, Levi ! Beautiful place and friendly people. The ski area isn't massive but big enough for families or intermediates. Also, cos I hate long transfers the journey from airport to resort is less than half an hour. You can arrange to do it by snow mobile if you really want. Think there can be skiing til May
