Started this to avoid the confusion of the other thread with so many options.

After looking through the replies I've come up with this as my favourite combination.

I met my love - Down at old Turf Moor
Dreamed a dream - In the old Longside
And I'm still here - After all this time
This is our turf - This is our Mill Town

(2nd Verse)
I watched us lift, both league and cup
Watched us fall, though we never gave up.
I stood right here, throughout all those years

I'm not on tomorrow but will be against Chelsea and will hopefully hear it being belted out.

How did the digging go?

This is our mill town doesn't fit and would end up sounding messy. Should just be this is our town.

Which is fine as long as we sing it only at home.

Besides, IMO, 'on' the old Longside would be better than 'in'.

Otherwise, it's not bad.

I think it should be put to a vote as suggested.

Also think, if it's to really work, it needs the club to be on board. Lyrics on screen, played ahead of a game etc.

My preference for what it's worth is that "dirty old town" should still be used, at least in some verses.

Burnley F C would also fit well.

Don't want to go around in circles changing any bits. This version won't be perfect for everyone but it's about as good as well get in terms of agreement.

I'll be singing it on Chelsea, hopefully it gets an airing at Watford too

I like it, but singing it in my head can't squeeze that last line in. Surely it would be better ending just 'This is our Town'.
I know the mills are very symbolic, but it just don't flow.

That fits easily, you can turn rise into two syllables.

The last couple of lines need a retweak. They don`t work.

I posted this on the other thread for the third verse.

Agree with this. Think it is quality .

But do please note that I referred only to verse 1, Longsider.

Forget multiple verses. Those who sing at 100mph can probably barely remember their second name, let alone a second verse. Just stick to the first one.

And it should definitely be on the old longside, as opposed to in it.

Then if we drop the 'Mill' from line 4, as suggested in posts 5, 12 and 13, we've cracked it, surely?

Except of course that it won't make sense if sung at away matches.

Well, if you want to claim for instance that Anfield's your turf and Liverpool your town, then go ahead.

But I think you'd sound a bit daft, that's all.

How about 'Burnley's our team; Burnley's our town' ?

Though it wouldn't make literal sense for fans from outside Burnley, at least it would be relevant home or away.

I love Dirty Old Town. It's an amazing song. We should just sing the original. It fits.

As babylon says the song in question is written about Salford. In our Liverpool home is obviously Anfield. Why can't we have a song of our own,not so far sung by anybody else. What about a revision of 'Just Like Eddie'

it is fairly easy and lively and tuneful.

If we stick to two verses (probably a good idea) then fair enough. But we are great again are we not?

Not perfect imo but we can run around in circles debating it. I like Redbeards version.

CM, it's already been going on for ages, and nobody can fully agree as everyone wants their own lines in there.

The great again line is because despite being in the Prem, we haven't won anything yet, and at the start of that verse we sing about winning the league and cup. That's great. We dream for that again, not just being here. Hopefully that's how people understand it?

And I changed it to MY town rather than OUR because of consistency in the song, just in case anyone asks. The other words from everyone else are perfect I think, and really sum us up.

It's match day, so let's agree (??) and get it spread? If everyone shares it on social media, then surely it will take off?

Down 'the' Brunshaw Road might be better, though? - So in line 2 we're not repeating 'on' ?

Brunshaw Road is the address, and meeting place before going on the Turf?

Like any song, they developmand be some what they are over time. People will sing what fits, but they just need a hand with a few words. 'The' might be better. Tiny point though.

What I'm saying is that the word on in line 1 could be replaced by the word the.

Hence 'down the Brunshaw Road'.

You've already used on in line 2.

That would make our version unique, and, I believe, in fact sound rather good!

Agree this sounds great, worried any kind of clapping would just be sped up. If its only words and those who start it sing it nice and slow it'll be superb.

I've been singing it all day I'll confess....

Perhaps it wouldn't matter if the clapping itself were done quickly, Matt. The overall thing would still be slowed down.

The best way to slow it down would be some fans repeating a line of it *like the FC United fans did*
