applauding dismissed players

i've never understood this. player gets sent off. as he leaves the pitch his fans applaud him. yeah thanks for the help. i can kind of understand it if its a bad decision, or a last gasp foul/handball to prevent a goal but anything else just leaves you right up against it...

Well, it has certainly cost us at least 3! Hopefully defour can get fit before Barton is banned or we are in real trouble.
