Freedoms have to be limited to some extent. OK, you might want to protest at a wedding, or a christening, or a funeral, or a child's birthday party, or a school speech day - but should you be allowed to?

If this is the Gavin McInnes you're on about. I used to watch him on YouTube and I thought he was pretty funny, until I realised he actually meant all the stuff he said and was a regular contributor to Fox News. I thought he was being ironic.

He was he founder of Vice and did some pretty funny videos on YouTube with VANS Off the Wall Channel. But his political beliefs are way too right wing for me.

- I was looking for some of the videos he did with VANS but they seem to have gone offline now.

This whole episode is indicative of how things are going here.

I caused a scene at a superbowl party on Sunday. One friend didn't go because he feared politics would be as central to the event through corporate advertising as would be the game on the field. Sure enough, the Busch advert kicked things off..... and he left.

And then there was an advert from Audi about a father ensuring his daughter grew up to believe in male/female parity in the workplace and in life. And so 3 of the attending women, including my wife stated to give it the "hell yeah" hail Mary's but then one of them linked Trump to female inequality, so I lost it, stood up and demanded to know how on earth could that be laid at Trump's door, 2 weeks into office. You can say a lot about his misogynistic persona, but he's not guilty here.

The problem being, and I'll get to the point now, if the half of the nation that didn't get the person they wanted shout "foul" and exaggerate Trump's activities, ultimately it becomes white noise, and the rest of us shut down because we don't want to hear it. When something happens we really ought to react against, it will be diluted due to the noise that's gone before.

Diplomats change guard after every succession. Trump hasn't fired any. Trump has so far issued less executive orders than Obama did...... it's just a cacophony of falsehoods aimed at Trump, and it needs to be recognized. And just so I make myself clear, I can't stand the guy. I want him out, but this isn't the way.

Thing is, you know that he's going to turn back the clock, so if you are not white, straight or married, then you are going to be adversely affected.

You don't sit and hope everything is going to be okay when they start taking away your rights.

Like his "Muslim ban" which just so happens to be the least effective ban in all existence.

But its the intention of what he wants to do.

Just because he doesn't understand that its going to be very hard to do legally, does not change the fact that its against everything that places like the UK and the US stand for.

But LC, it was clear what he wanted - he talked about it enough on his campaign trail. He has entered office on a mandate of homeland security. People here are paranoid about terrorist attacks after 911 and Boston, and your average Joe cannot distinguish between immigration, religion, and terrorism at any kind of working or logical level.

That he has it wrong legally is being argued, and fascinating it is. I'm really happy to see the Judicial branch fulfilling its function of keeping the executive branch honest, and praise is due to Washington State, Minnesota, and now Maryland for launching state level challenges.

They key point here is that they're attacking his specific action, and not the overall policy, which backs up my point about Trump opposers need to be focused and not just noisy
