Staying up in town

Making a rare trip to a home game in the next month and staying the night. (Can't handle a whole day on a train)
From anyone's experience is it worth staying in Burnley? Looking at a good night out after the game ( we're all in our 30's)
Used to stay with a mate in Rochdale and had some classic nights out there and in Bury but would like to try somewhere else.

8am finish - in your 20's daylight and the birds singing as you emerged from a club was the sign of a good night. In your 40's its the sign of a weeks work screwed up
Good luck

You would be better off stopping in Manchester.
But if in Burnley, Premier Inn is near to the ground and they are all fairly similar.
Omerod B and B has been going years - was actually on about this the other day. Never been but must be doing something right.
Holiday inn is just off the M65 and like Premier Inn they are all decent and similar standard.
Failing that if you dont mind being out of the way a bit somewhere like Barley Mow.

Leave Vogue at 8am walk round to spoons for a breakfast 8.05am. Follow this with a couple of pints to bring you round then walk up to Manny rd for the train.
Once on the train tell yourself well done saving the price of a room.

I think Rosehill house is back open. The Oaks is reasonably priced especially on a Friday in winter months.
Burnley is brilliant for after the game pubs, you couldn't get round all of them but the town centre doesn't seem to get busy until after midnight these days.
Obviously Manchester is more showbiz if you know where you're going but double the drinks price.

Bit controversial but I stayed at The Hotel at Brockall by the wovers training ground late last year. Had a great meal in Whalley before extended drinkypoos in Clitheroe at The Emporium etc.. before a very reasonable taxi back to the very reasonably priced Hotel.

Really liked the guys who run the Hotel and great banter as a Claret.

Yes I'd say Manchester is your best option too.
Do a few pubs after the game, then get either the [18:39 -> 19.32] or [19:39 -> 20.30] back to Manchester. Plenty of time left to see the sights!
If your after somewhere 'quieter', look at Clitheroe or Whalley. Good number of pubs and accommodation within a taxi ride from the turf.

Post 5 & 22 - Manc lovers.
Reminds me when on holiday abroad and people asked the missis where we were from, and she used to say, Near Manchester and I would fly into a rage and say No we are not we are from Burnley and Manchester is near Burnley.

Both actually used to be good nights out ( Bury still ok) though Rochdale ( now pretty much closed at weekends) was decent until lateish 90 early 2000's.Virtually everywhere closed down in Rochdale .
You'd be far better off in Manchester and jump on the express bus to Burnley

Yep love manchester. Has far more to offer from a night out, particularly for a group of young lads.

Burnley in the 90s was far superior to Manchester delights. Shame drinking habits changed.

Possibly but that was before my time.
Burnley is limited at best. Even when i started going out (back in my day) it was far better than it is today. Thats a whole seperate debate though.

Everyone to their own........... but....
If he's a Claret making a rare trip to Town and Turf, personally I think he should do the full Burnley experience.
Smacks etc

24 hour drinking has wrecked nightlife for small towns.
Getting out of a club at 8am, what's all that about? The "good night" bit can surely only be in you're getting out of a lady at 8am?
Seriously, much better when you could go to a club, be home for 3am and then the next day is managemenable. Up for lunch time football up Towneley with your mates, then back on it on a Sunday night in town again. Mind you, I'm past that now.

5-10 years ago I'd have said stick around after the match and go out in Burnley but as crickfieldclarets said it's pretty lame nowadays. I recently went in Smacks for the first time in ages and they were playing S Club 7 and the Spice Girls, I think everybody agreed that old Indie playlist was getting a bit stale but cheesy 90s pop isn't the answer. Manchester a much better bet IMO.

Bit like the Watford away, just enjoy yourself and don't worry about others, I'm a bit repressed until well oiled but I always seem to observe my mates Camply dancing away in there on the middlle floor with babes a plenty in the vicinity or downstairs hands up to an anthem.
Maybe cos locals keep swanning off to Manc-chester it's a little sparse at times.

How about a stay at Hurstwood Hall B & B near Worsthorne, so you get the essential Pennine experience thrown in, too? Pie and peas at the Crooked Billet is the rite of pre-match ritual and bloody good beer as well. They do a deal: Pie and peas and taxi to the match and back again, all for £5 inclusive. You won't get a better pre-match and maybe post-match experience. Hit the town later but don't get hit, into the bargain. There is an art to it.

I might start walking up there just for that offer.

They keep swanning off to manchester because its crap.

When I first started going down town regularly about 2002/03 it was absolutely jumping, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but places like Vogue and Blu Bar staying open till 8am has completely killed the town centre pubs and bars. All the young uns just drink at home till midnight then go out till 7/8am. Was much better when all the pubs shut at 11/12, if you wanted to stay out go to a club.

I do agree with that.
I was saying the other day I even think the young would enjoy it better going out straight after tea with fuller pubs, cos it's also half dead later on too.
It seems such a crap idea to twiddle your thumbs or drink before going out and then to go out so late and come out of the last place in daylight?

I was out in town for the first time in ages in Dec. Saturday night, went to the Talbot around 9ish for a game of pool and a few beers. Headed into town around 1045 thinking it would be starting to liven up. Not a chance. Couldn't believe how dead it was. Smacks wasn't even open. 2 other people in Mojitos, BB11 had a few people in. Big Window half full, but really not that good. The Mix was still open, well it wasn't, but it did open around midnight and we were the first people in, and were still the only people to have crossed the threshold when we left at 0030. Basically, don't go out until 0100 unless you like empty bars. Lots of people spilling out of Vogue at 8am on Sat and Sundays though, but no point getting a room then.
I think the idea of a few beers post match then heading to Manchester is a much better idea.
Other option might be Skipton, X43 goes out that way now so cheap to get there and back and there are really good pubs over that way. 55 mins every half hour on a Sat night.

I'm in my early 60's and only recently moved back here.
Up until November I stopped over in the Ormerod for home games, comfortable, convienient, reasonably priced and a superb breakfast!
Stop over and wind your way into town, if you want alternative try Miners then 'Turf and Prinny before Spoons, The White Lion, Swan and the other Spoons on Manny Road. All lively after a game and a decent atmosphere.
That'll get you warmed up for Smacks, maybe Mr Greens and then The Coach and Horses followed by a nightcap at the Talbot.
You know it makes sense!
