The football genius that is Paul Merson has this week predicted a 3-1 win for Chelsea. There's still hope for us yet! UTC

We always score at home.

Just had a quick look back at the results and we've only failed to score twice at home, once on the opening day against Swansea and against Arsenal.

Incredibly we've only conceded 1 goal in our last 6 appearances at home in all competitions.

I know that and you know that but does Merson.

I'm merely saying that its hardly worth making a fuss over. I'd sooner they predict us to lose anyway.

Each time I see pundits make a prediction, they just go with the favourite anyway and stick to the most common scorelines. You might as well ask computers to do the predictions instead of them.

Yes our home form is great. Chelseas overhaul form is fantastic. They've one hand on the title. Why wouldn't he predict a Chelsea win???

Lawro has Chelsea down for a 2-0 win , could not be happier as I can't recall when was the last time he got a result right with us playing at home .........

That scruffy boring Preston tart Lawro has gone for a Chelsea 2-0 victory.....which is rather predictable but what most people (including Burnley fans would agree with)

His recent predictions for Burnley have been funny though - in most of our last few home games he has predicted us to lose or win using the rationale that at some point our home form has to give....he has got it wrong almost every week for the last couple of months !

Then last week against Watford he decided that we are not that bad after all and that our away form has to change - can`t remember his prediction exactly but it was for us to either win or draw.

Why on earth do the BBC still have this miserable old git on their payroll ? He makes Alan Hanson look like Smiley McSmileface

If Merson thinks we can score, then the chances are we can surely score. If we can score we can win.

The BBC have a league table based on Lawrensons predictions had they all come true. We'd currently be on 16 points after our 24 games so far, fair enough he doesn't rate us. Even worse than that though Hull would currently only have 2 points based on Lawrensons predictions. It's not expert punditry it's high class bell endery..

In fairness, if you asked Lawrenson at the beginning of the season to predict the amount of points that Hull would have at this point he would have gone higher than 2. It's completely different backing results on a game by game basis.

Has a pundit ever predicted the underdog to win?

Almost crashed my car this morning. Merson was on talksport saying Dyche should get the manager of the season award. Comparing Burnleys tactics with Arsenal, Dyche sets us up to play a different way against each opposition, Arsenal play the same style whoever they play.
Interesting he predicts if Arsenal lose tonight, Wenger will just shrug it off as a freak result and cite Barcelona as an example, ignoring if it was playing style that loses a game.

He didnt win an award for getting us up in first place...so doubt hell get one this season....i dont know how they come to pick the award or who votes but i feel conte will take first spot with sd second.

He did say it would go to Conte but that Dyche was more deserving
