Boyd has been fine recently (apart from today) but Flanagan is terrible.

boyd was fine, though not is best today, flannagan does not have a careeer in the prem or championship on what ive seen of him this year, i thought scotty turned in his worst ever performance for us today, and barton lost it which is the first time hes done that at burnley,

np one in the team was above a 6 today in my opinion,

says something when i think darinkwa was man of match for us

That's utter garbage man.

Darikwa is a limited footballer, but at least there's a footballer in him at times.

Flanagan has looked nothing more than a competition winner everytime I've seen him. It's like watching a schoolboy playing with the big boys. He should be sent back to Liverpool today in my opinion. I'd offer more at left back.

Don't know why people are looking to Boyd to be something we know he's not. Just because he had to come on for JBG doesn't mean he can fill his role which was to be one of our key creative outlet.
Boyd does his job well in the league but he's being tasked with a different role from JBG, Defour or Brady.

Ridiculous to suggest Boyd should be on his way out.

Playing excellently in the PL lately.

What you say is true, but a team in the premiership shouldn't be carrying a player out wide who's only use is as a defensive back up. He wouldn't get on the pitch for any other team in the league, and for very, very few in the championship. We have needed a replacement for ages and unfortunately JBG is having a really bad run with injuries. In that case we need a better back up to JBG.

Stop defending Boyd everyone! All he does is cover their fullback from getting forward. That's where all his running stats come from on top of the yardage he runs trying to get the the ball back after he has given it away. He is a wideman who offers absolutely nothing going forward. Shouldn't be getting a new contract. We need to improve his position.
Total agreement with Flanagan he has got to be shipped out immediately.

Playing Flanagan at left back is like asking someone to play snooker with one arm tied behind their back. The left side of the pitch becomes non existent. We lose all balance. It's hard to point the finger at the player when he's being asked to play in that position by a manager who's seen him put rank bad performances in there all season. I thought he was bad at Accy and against Bristol City. Today was something else though. How didn't Dyche see it and change it?! Ward should have been on at half time.

That's true but both full backs were awful . And Flanagan is playing on his wrong side. He isn't a left back so you can't judge him fairly for playing out of position .

Ward should have been on at half time for either Darikwa or Flanagan. Arguably I'd have left Flanagan on because he might just be a decent RB backup because Darikwa clearly isnt

Arguably he should have played fro. The start but I expect Dyche thought they ought to be good enough against non league opposition. It's hard to fault that logic but half time should have seen changes

Flanagan had his revelatory season playing at left back. If we played him at right back he wouldn't turn into a world beater.

I've given Flanagan the benefit of the doubt up to today but that non performance was something else. Amazed at just how poor his distribution was. You don't expect that from someone who trained with Liverpool so long and was lorded as an up and coming star a couple of years ago.

Boyd had to defend and press off the ball against Chelsea. Going forward even when given the opportunity he offers jack Sh*t.

Flanagan is very poor. Too slow defensively and provides nothing going forwards. Game desperately needed him subbing for Ward.

Boyd and Arfield are fine if all you need is hard work, today we needed them to help create something, their limitations were there for all to see.

Please don't start with any of this nonsense. Can you remember Delfouneso? Posters were coming out with the same drivel then stating we weren't playing to his strengths.

I said it in a July and I'll say it again. Flannagan is a 100%er but you get nothing more. He is no way a Premier League standard footballer. In fact the more I see of him, the more I think he won't even make it as a pro.

There was a throw in in the second half where he just threw it straight to a Lincoln player. Any one can do that it was just his body language read as if he had enough and wasn't bothered. Didn't wait for anyone to show....just threw it to them straight away. GET RID

Flanagan is a liability on the right and a total bottle-job on the left.

He'll be at Southport in 5 years telling all his mates about how he conned starts out of two Premier League clubs.

Boyd certainly isn't an attacking wide player, that's for sure. He's somebody to come on and basically act as a second full back in the closing minutes when leading in a game.

Flanny was better today than the accy game but is still a poor left back, imo was a main contributor to our loss today, boyd was unusually off it today, still think certain players backed off a bit as it wasnt a league game

Boyd has been great this season and has got better as the season has progressed. In the Premier League his role is to cover ground quickly, both when we have the ball and when we don't. Today he was largely a passenger and in a strange way he is more suited to playing against the better sides. It's a shame that Gudmondsson was forced off as he offers far more quality on the ball.

I'm starting to lose words to describe Flanagan. I don't like to slag off Burnley players, even those on loan to us, but he looks like an utterly woeful player. I don't care which side of the defence you play on the fundamentals of the game are the same. Positionally he is dreadful, he's rash in the tackle and slow. Furthermore his distribution is poor and he offers nothing in attack. I think, and hope, we've seen the last of him.

Comparing him to Darikwa is unfair. Darikwa is certainly suspect positionally but he has the pace to recover and he's also far more disciplined at standing up to his man. On the ball he's technically decent although his delivery often lets him down. It may be faint praise but he was one of the only positive performances in claret and blue today.

Boyd has been excellent for this football club over the last 14 months (previous to that he was crap} he will be one of the main reasons we are playing in the EPL next season. Boyd is what this Burnley team are all about and without him we would be in the bottom 3.

I personally have seen nothing from Gudmondson that suggest that he is anywhere near good enough for this football club, has for Darikwa he is no better

Right, let's get to the point once and for all. Boyd, Arfield, Flanagan, are NOWHERE near good enough to play every game in a Premier league team who has designs on remaining a Premier league team. Barton has been immense once again on his return, but has shown his true colours today. There are others for who the jury is still out. I personally have massive reservations about Gray's credentials. He is definitely going backwards and we should probably try to recoup the money we paid for him. (IMHO). Same can be said of ihe immobile Vokes. We now have some absolutely massive away games coming up. We can't win away. I will take finishing 17th now, but it's not guaranteed! It's certainly not over yet, and we need to spend big in the Summer. UTC

Best chance we had of getting anything from the game was to bring both ward and Lowton on for the second half, as has already been said Flanagan is garbage and should return to an field "or the dole" but given the problems with injury and suspension in midfield the trusted Lowton and ward you would have given us some width which would have gone against what Lincoln were trying to do but instead sd played right into their hands and let them play their disruptive game but we unfortunately we're happy just to take part in that instead of playing our own game, also another big part was to nullify joey, nonetheless on to Hull and let's get them first 3pts away.

Didn't realise he was about to bring ward on but what the hell was the point, unless he wanted to risk yet another injury, and while on that note, looked another cruciate with gudmundson to me, that's what the physio was testing for and apparently he left the turf on crutches.

Flanagan didn't want to come here anyway when he was loaned to us.... He has said it himself (maybe not publically) .... What amazes me is that if he didnt/still doesnt want to be here .... Then surely the best thing to do is play out of his skin and get back into the mix at Liverpool/another "bigger" team.

If Flannagan plays for Liverpool again in a meaningful game I will bare my ass in Woolworths.

He has been shocking against lowly League 2 Accy Stanley, relegation candidates in the championship Bristol City and Non League Lincoln City.

Just read an interview from the Lincoln manager saying they knew we'd be unbalanced with a right footer at left back and therefore this allowed them to defend 2/3s of the pitch.

Says something when a non league team can practically leave our LB unmarked and we can't look to exploit it!! It's not impossible for a right footer to play there and link up with the left winger - shows how poor Flanagan actually is.

Also says alot that Sean didn't spot this and capitalise on it. Bringing on Ward at half time would have widened the pitch for us and stretched them.

Darikwa is an accident waiting to happen, at least we'd get a fee for him. Personally thought he was dreadful yesterday. Only player worse was Flanagan who needs sending back to save a wage.

Arfield and Boyd (who has been better recently) must be on the way in the summer if we stay up.
