I don't recognise this player. Pic I'm told is 1960 - does anyone know who it is?

Not Peter McKay, definitely Billy Marshall.

Pretty sure that's Shane Long.

Just my theory, having looked at old pics. I think 1960 is right and that the pic may be Billy Marshall...I stand to be corrected of course....just noticed someone else posted above has the same theory!

It is Billy, a good friend of mine, unfortunately I lost touch with him. He came back to Burnley after he finished playing professional football and worked at Michelin. He eventually went back to Hartlepool where I lost touch. I later found out that he came back to Burnley to look up old friends. However it was not until after his death that I found out he was trying to contact me.

Found a signed team photograph which I have amongst many others from that era in my scrap book and it is Billy Marshall
Players in that era signed their autographs in a way they were readable not like today's scribble where they can only be identified by adding their squad number

Billy Marshall played left back for the reserves in the early sixties, ( could have done with him today)

Good shout if it is Billy Marshall.......I'd have put money on it being McKay.

Where's clareturion when you need him!

In fact he was at left back in the Burnley team of mostly reserves that played Chelsea, in the article you published last week.
