Bit of a late post but given my colleague has only jus recovered i thought id post this

He was assaulted in the home end vs United by a guy believe or not with a shaved head and top knot. Its all been collated on CCTV by the police and rovers are co-operating to find out who it is.

If you are going in the home end you need to either
1. Go in a group of 10 or so as you won't get attacked
2. Don't cheer
3. Pick the family stand ( still need 2/3 of you though )

Other than that you will always get abuse either verbal or physical.

It's no different on the Turf. I've even seen it in our family stand!

Is your mate a Utd fan by any chance?

I saw something about this on FB where a UTD fan had some aggro and got knocked about a little bit.

been in the "wrong end " a few times over the years, as mentioned , best to stay quiet and blend in. Very, difficult indeed when Burnley score.

Not that I condone the violence, but prevention is always better than cure.

If you are an away fan, surely it's just basic common sense not to go in the home areas?

I was sat next to an older lad at Blackburn a few years ago that used to enjoy the trouble at games in the 70s/80s/90s and he said he would happily go in Blackburns main end with just 4 decent lads and that Chelsea had took the Rovers end once with only 4 main lads.

The difference here is they are attacking normal football supporters who shouldn't have been attacked no matter where they chose to sit. There would of been plenty of United idiots who would of loved a scrap but they are obviously not man enough to pick on people who are happy to fight.

Whilst I agree about staying out of the home ends if you are an away fan, I don't see why someone should feel the need to physically attack another person.

They're lacking the intelligence to see that it's a bit of a stupid thing to do, attack someone else at a football match.

The lad who got attacked on the video I posted was a United fan from Blackburn who wanted to take his lad on. Is that such a wrong thing to do. Go to a football match in your home town with your son? Sat next to people you share pubs/shops/eating places/work with every day?

Please don't try and defend it.

On par for me is oppo fans that deliberately walk into my young lad at away grounds after the match.

Its only when they see who is attached to him do we get an apology.

Football violence is something I just don't understand.

Man goes in home end of a club that is known to be extremely partisan and has more than it's fair share of idiots.

I think this is what's widely referred to as 'idiot tax'.

Never going to condone football violence, but if you don't want to get trouble, you don't go in the home end as an away fan.

And why would you? Its on TV, if you don't get a ticket, then you can still see it.

And it's not all Rovers fans, I was nattering with a couple of em in Austria last week the day before Coyle was sent to the knackers yard and although you could see it pained them a little, they were good lads pretty complimentary towards the Clarets and what we've done over the last few years.

Out of curiosity-did anyone get arrested. I thought they had pictures of the attacker?

Whether violence or aggressive behaviour is not good is not the issue. The reality of life is that violence is still a major component of human behaviour and is even more common when groups of like minded people are together. Reality is that violence at football matches, whilst nowhere near the levels of the 60s, 70s and 80s is still relatively commonplace, especially if you are stupid enough to go into a home area and identify yourself as an away fan.

If my son and I want to take my 6 year old grandson to a BFC away game we ensure that we get appropriate tickets or we don't go, simple.

Hes from ramsbottom and alwayd shown an interest in united. Not a die hard fan tho jus managed to get a ticket in the home end.

It beggars belief that an away fan would go in the home end in a big cup tie against Man Utd .Its common sense ,if ur gonna go on at least go in the family stand and keep quiet.

I took an Everton supporting work colleague into the CFS, earlier this season. Lads (and they ARE lads) around us sussed him fairly quickly, and were great with him for the entire game.

Maybe the result helped.

I know that the CID were involved straight after the game so I think it won't be long before they get him.

It was one guy whos followed him from stands to bogs after game. He thinks its due to his bury type accent. Cctv shows the guy following him hitting him and him banging his head as he goes down
