Sometime early 80s maybe... anyone remember... at the Turf.. On a Sunday possibly.
Anyone there, remember who played.

Don't know, but I doubt it will have been as early as you claim.

Eastenders didn't start until the mid 80s.

Would have been around 1988/89. I went but the only thing I can remember is before the game, Adam Woodyatt (Ian Beale) putting his fag out on the pitch which made me rather cross.

Yes, when he first took over, he claimed there was a "cancer" at the club.

I wonder if there was a link? ;)

Corrie/Emmerdale v Walford Boys Club, was the very late 80s, post Sherpa Van Final so I'd guess summer of 1988

The mitchell brothers turned up with a roll of carpet and a couple of spades

Something has come back to me. It must have been around Easter 1987 because it was the first time I went to the Turf on my own (ie without my dad) and by the Orient game I was going regularly with mates.

As I recall one of the sides turned up short a few players so at least one of the ground staff (Aiden?) ended up playing for them....
