Could Rooney be a Claret?

Just read United gonna pay him off and he's free to go wherever he wants I feel Rooney's priority is his family first and foremost and that's excellent and his football ambitions are probably more personal achievements, he's done everything at the highest level so what does he do now? I don't think he will be moving anywhere for the cash the interest on his fortune earns more in a week than most people dream about earning in a year If he went to a trophy hunting big club he wouldn't play much but what about him being the leader and architect of relative success with a club like our's, I'd love it after all the last Evertonion we signed did ok!

Yeah because Shearer always makes sense and speaks the truth. Think back to Rooney's falling out do the other year, which was suddenly put to bed with a nice wage increase and new contract. It's clear as day that money is one of his priorities.

Thankfully you said Evertonian, meaning supporting them, rather than last player from Everton which I think was Gazza

Non argument, Frank. That's just playing politics to get the best deal you can.
He'll get better offers than us though. Probably end up back at Everton.

We've got more chance of signing Mickey Rooney (who is probably fitter and certainly better looking than ol' fat head).

1.Oddly he isn't what we need
2. 250 k a week isn't enough so he will be off to China or if his Mrs doesn't fancy it off to Everton for 100 k week

If I was him I'd be off to somewhere more exotic. How can you spend 250k a week in North Weat England.

Whilst appreciating that this thread is non-sense, I personally would rather have Danny Ings.

People who are seriously suggesting that Rooney would be no good for us (even though it's never going to happen) need their heads seeing to.
He's about 100 times better than anything we currently have in his position.

The answer is most definitely no.
More importantly, there are several 'more realistic' signings I'd much rather have ahead of Wayne... including players in the Championship.

The only way we could afford his wages enough is if Burnley held his image rights during the year or two he'd be here. Unless he took a sizable pay cut.
Even so, if it cost a net 10 million to have him for a season i'd take him, and that wouldn't be much of a pay cut. But i'm under no illusions that it would happen.

It's nailed on he will be at Everton. They tried to get him on loan in January. It will attract big names if he goes there, they have the money but it takes superstars to get superstars in.

No. It's nailed on for who can offer the him most with the last payday looming all allegiances roots are quickly forgotten. Once a blue always a blue doesn't think home first dollar will speak first & foremost.

I remember a time when we brought in aging Div 1 "stars", it didn't do us much good then and wouldn't now.

Rooney would struggle in any team where he'd have to work.
Over-rated, past it.
A great example of where the Prem - and England - have gone tits up.

How would you describe Joey Barton then?

It's not Rooney's age that's the problem, it's the fact that he's garbage.

Ok on the spot not the greatest fan decent footballer but don't like the bad press that seems to follow (not every club) I like honest low profile pros to be honest.

It's pointless using Barton as an example for several reasons, not least because his PL career appeared already over when we took him on, and we were not a PL team. He had something to prove (I guess) and seems to have done that. He's still making his story here.
