Could anyone please point me in the right direction of any videos of the time Gazza spent as a Claret? I know it was all short-lived and it's not like there'll be a highlight reel a few hours long but it would be appreciated all the same.

I know he's a free agent but You're not thinking of signing him on for Sunderland are you

I think he only played 5 or 6 times for us? Didn't work out like it did for Ian's Wright, although I'm sure the wages were covered with merchandise etc.

Clearly struggling with his health, fitness and alcoholism. I was at the Sheffield game where he was awful and remember the free kick against Coventry. Other than that very little.
He also inferred that we pulled a fast one over shirt sales.

I was at that game , from memory he did a shocking back pass then wandered around the pitch aimlessly, then Stan hooked him for his own sanity.

Grimsby away. No words can sum up that performance. No words.

I remember being on a game versus Wolves. 3-0 down at half time (at home). Gazza hooked at HT. Think we ended up losing 3-2 in the end.

Apparently on £10;000 an appearance.Nearly got us a playoff place in the Norwich game with two excellent free kicks.

Didn't he say in his book that he was surprised he didn't get picked for a game when he was not injured (I can't bring myself to say fit) but someone on the old CM site said he had been seen crawling on his hand and knees down the road after leaving the Sparrow Hawk drunk as they come. Sort of sums up his stay with the Clarets.

I don't think that was the case. Wright was brilliant with the club and allowed us to use his name on merchandising without any charge. Gascoigne didn't and I did hear he tried to sue the club for money after he'd gone.

I was told it was Rosehill House and in the early hours of the morning when we were playing the last game against Coventry.

You've had no success because that function isn't available

He was worse than our keeper in that game which took some doing. What was the Grimsby player called who scored, ex tennis protégé or something.

Spent that game sat behind a couple of our likely lads, who featured in Danny Dyer's programme. They were on the phone all game, pointing at away fans. Left with 10 mins to go and were last seen having a punch up outside McDonalds.

I meant that the cost of employing him was covered by increased crowds and merchandise sales?

With Wright I remember crowds jumping from 12,000 ish to 20,000 for the wigan game, and 22,000 v PNE. Wasn't there another game which had about 17,000 on?

It will live long in the memory. The match ticket was my birthday present. Think we sat at the side on a temporary stand. I moved more in 90 mins than Gazza; and I didn't even go for a pie at HT.
reminiscent of paul Stewart's performance at Barnsley in 95 (Kevin Lynch) At least he had the good grace to get sent off...

Remember him playing for us at Pompey. He came on as a sub and as he warmed up the Pompey end sang"there is only one Paul Gascoigne' he waved it was a love fest it brought a tear to my eye. He came on he fouled one of theirs they then sang ' you're just a fat geordie bast...' football eh!

I was in the temporary stand too. I took Mrs Herts along with me (I wanted to see Paul Gascoigne in a Burnley shirt) and made weekend of it, stopping off overnight in Lincoln on the way home. Really wish I hadn't bothered with the game, we were terrible front to back, with Gazza in the middle contributing the square root of nothing.

Don't think we got increased crowds with the signing of Gascoigne and there were no wonderful merchandise sales because Gazza wouldn't allow his name to be used as Wright did.

Wasn't his debut in a night match at home to Bradford ? I'm sure I remember that for some reason (I wasn't there) and also that the crowd was a pretty big one.
