Swansea city - a hire 'em, fire 'em club
Swansea city - a hire 'em, fire 'em club
Since Michael Laudrup left Swansea city in Feb 2014 they've had five different managers looking after team affairs.
Chelsea were once despised for sacking managers on a regular basis but it seems even the smaller clubs will now get rid on a whim.
If Paul Clement takes them down he'll be out, if they get off to a bad start next season he'll be out as well.
Similarly, Leicester, with their owners get rid pretty quickly these days.

No chance Swansea will go down playing like Bayern Munich every week. Or was that just against us?
Anyway, I think Clement is a great fit for them after a period of instability.

They were a steady club until they sacked Gary Monk. Linked to the new owners maybe

Considering three have been this season, and the latest appointment is clearly working, I don't think its fair to call them a hire and fire club.

If we'd have done the same as Swansea did with Bob Bradley, then Sean Dyche would have been long gone when he first joined the club.
So yes, I'd say sacking a manger after 11 games is getting rid too soon. It took SD quite a while to win the fans over if you remember.

There can't be a comparison between Dyche and Bradley. Bradley was a shocking appointment and as for sacking Dyche after 11 games, by then we'd won 4 drawn 4 and lost 3. We also won three of the next four .Spijed wrote:If we'd have done the same as Swansea did with Bob Bradley, then Sean Dyche would have been long gone when he first joined the club.

It's all about the money, there isn't time for patience/team building etc.

How come many weren't happy with SD?ClaretTony wrote:There can't be a comparison between Dyche and Bradley. Bradley was a shocking appointment and as for sacking Dyche after 11 games, by then we'd won 4 drawn 4 and lost 3. We also won three of the next four .

You might remember the football wasn't pretty for a few weeks but he shored up the defence and built a solid platform for subsequent success.Spijed wrote:How come many weren't happy with SD?

I remember the hissy fits on CM at the timeSpijed wrote:How come many weren't happy with SD?

Just imagine multiple versions of KRBFC all kicking off at the same time, it was amusing to read.

It's true that Bradley was only given 11 games, but it was obvious after about 6 that he was totally ill-suited to the job, (and probably to managing at the top level in England). After 11 games Swansea - a decent squad of players- looked absolutely down and out. Events since he left seem to prove that, for whatever reasons, he was simply not up to the job.

Why did Swansea sack the manager before Bradley?

You could always email them and ask I suppose but it had much to do with the American owners wanting an American manager.Spijed wrote:Why did Swansea sack the manager before Bradley?
Re: Swansea city - a hire 'em, fire 'em club
If it's not working then I don't see no harm in changing it before its too late. I wish we were a hire and fire club when Laws was here. Bob Bradley was dire, they're now reaping the benefits of sacking him before it was too late.
Re: Swansea city - a hire 'em, fire 'em club
Swansea situation is vastly different to us under the first few months of Dyche. Swansea have been in the premier for a few seasons playing attractive football. For some reason their last couple of appointments have been dreadful and they had a chance of saving their season by binning Bradley. We stuck with Dyche because we were in the championship and had time. We weren't showing signs of going up or down.

Don't worry about Michael Laudrup. He landed on his feet running Denmark. But with the sad state of their strikers, they're going to need miracles from him.

And if he does fall on his face, he can always go back to Brondby. His father started the club.
