Ed Sheeran's new album Divide

Excellent album with some fabulous songs on it.
I do not have one particular favourite as there are half a dozen or so that I could pick out.
Having said that one of those would be him singing a song that could have been written with Van Morrison in mind and called "How Would You Feel"

Was good on the Graham Norton show the other week.
I was impressed that he took a year out just to travel and experience the world outside of gigs/arenas.

Heard someone talking today ( may not be true ) but they stated he had about 9 songs in the UK top 10 an the moment.
If that's the case that is very impressive.

It's actually 3 in the top 40 although he had 6 last week. Stormzy ( whom Gray keeps tweeting about ) has 7 in the top 40.

Listening to it right now. My favourite is probably New Man.
Writes his own stuff and performs it brilliantly, playing his guitar with no need for backing singers/dancers etc. Mixes up his style too.

Seems like a nice lad, but his music is abysmal.
Every song I've heard sounds like a dog being thrown down a well.

All that list shows is that everyone is streaming his album. So he's got a number one album. Well done.
Musics f@cked these days. Nothing to shout about.

To put it into perspective, the new song by the Chainsmokers and Oasis has been the most streamed song this week with 377,000 daily streams via spotify.
Since the release of Ed Sheerans album, his worst/least streamed song is still doing better than the above song with 419,000 daily streams

I don't know much of Mr Sheeran's music so listened to the link provided by the OP
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wY473jAptyw" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Now I'm really confused , because the first line he sings is "You are the wonker, d'ya know that it's true"
What is a wonker? Is it one of those new-fangled words that young'uns use or is Mr Sheeran getting his vowels mixed up?

His popularity is completely baffling to me. He’s just your average ‘emotional sixth-former’ singer songwriter.
Dross.

Don't tell me this is what kids are listening to today?
I'm at the age now I'm supposed to be shocked / disgusted / scared of the next generation. Not bored.

Imagine how boring it is to hear the older generation constantly saying 'is this what kids are listening to today?'

Yeah, fair point. Maybe listening to the most mundane, corporate lift music imaginable is the new 'rebelling'.
As long as it vexes the oldies, then all is good. The kids are alright afterall.

Fantastic album! Had it on repeat since it was released. Going to see him live at Manchester arena the evening we play United at home. Really hoping they beat Chelsea so the game is rearranged

I agree especially with having to put up with the Cheap Bog Roll artists churned out on X Factor, The Voice etc. Those shows have seriously devalued music.
That said, out of whats on offer at present I don't mind a bit of Ed Sheeran.

A couple of tunes I don't mind hearing but does he have any songs that in 30 years time people will be sticking on a juke box?
I still stick on Weller, Oasis, Stone Roses, Happy Monday's, Smiths..... Etc when I stick a couple of quid in a juke box.
I can't see myself sitting at a bar wanting to listen to "I broke my leg when I was 6" or "I'm in love with the shape of you" in 20 years time.

Awful, just awful.
There's good musicians out there though. Lana del rey has a new album on the way.
Alex Turner has been helping Alexandra Savior with her debut effort. Everything he touches is simply superb. He doesn't get the credit he deserves imo.
Mysic has always been vastly overrated. Even the 'greats' only ever had 4/5 great songs.

Agree with you Dyched that Alex Turner is outstanding. I'd stretch your 4/5 great songs to 4/5 great albums when it comes to Arctic Monkeys. Though his latest album with The Last Shadow Puppets was average for me.

Yes I agree. I meant the greats only have have 4/5 great songs. Alex has 4/5 great albums and he's only 30. Writing Humbug at 22/23 is insane.
I was a little disappointed with TLSP latest album but Sweet Dreams TN is a masterpiece.
