Andre Gray

Interesting Spurs along with Everton, West Brom and Newcastle apparently.

No surprise especially given his fantastic return again this season. 8 goals despite a 4 game ban. A ratio of a goal every 2.75 games in The Premier league which is far better than the much loved Ings record with us at the level below. Has proved again that he can score goals at every level. Find it bizarre that so many Burnley fans don't rate him.

With Kane, Rooney and Rashford injured could we have another England player on our books later this month?

Does anyone think we will keep him in summer with his contract set to expire? If not how much would we get for him?

The best thing we could have done was renew it when he was banned. Showed how much we valued and believed in him at a point when his stock had dropped.

Be very difficult to replace him.

Get him in the England squad as it will bump his price up a few more million..Not bad for a player who can't trap a bag of cement.. ( according to some posters) lol

As far as I'm concerned ,I'd have him up front every game first choice..give him the proper service and he will put the ball in the net..

I was chatting to a Burnley fan yesterday and we both agreed on one thing - his heart isn't at Burnley. He's good enough for a top 10 side and he'll move in the summer to a better team.

As for how much we'll get for him - £12-15 million I'd say.

I think we are a stepping stone in his eyes.

I think he'll want to be back down near the midlands/London with his pals as soon as the chance becomes available.

We need to either sign him on a long term deal and build our attack around him, or get him sold in the summer and bring in someone to build our attack around who also suits our style of play.

Not sure why it was just under a 3 year deal. The club have been quite smart by usually adding a year in our favour, but didn't with Gray. Maybe he laid his cards out from the off.

How do you know his heart isn't here, out of interest?

Where's he realistically going to go where he will be first choice?

He'd be a bench warmer at Spurs who're set up for a Solo front man with an attacking mid behind them.

Newcastle - they'll throw all sorts of money around in the summer assuming they come up, but if his heart isn't here then it certainly won't be at Newcastle either, although the money will help.

Everton - he will never dislodge Lukaku.

I could see someone like WBA or Stoke getting him though.

Thought he was very good again yesterday.

I don't see any evidence of his not being happy at Burnley, but it does look like we might struggle to hold on to him in the summer with just a year remaining on his contract, but at least it should be a big fee.

It might be difficult to replace him, but we said that about Danny Ings, Charlie Austin, Jay Rodriguez and Steven Fletcher.

On Sky yesterday, they said he would go for £10-12 million, which made me chuckle.

Watford could be a good move for him.
WBA and even West Ham are not out of the question.

As for fee 15m should start the bidding. 20m would be a great return

Going rate for a 25 year old English premier league striker with pace is surely upwards of 20 million. We paid 6 and he became championship player of the season after then. I'm not one of his biggest admirers but the suggestion of 10-12 million is laughable really.

I have also seen reports of Wet Ham, Crystal Palace, Southampton, Stoke, Sunderland being interested in him - basically almost anyone - in the division bar Chelsea both sets of Mancs and Arsenal - if he develops his ball control skills he could do very well

People don't say what they really think of him because he is still a Burnley player, he is going to get some real stick on here when the day comes when he isn't.

If anyone is daft enough to offer upwards of £12 million, we should tear their hand off. He's always been hot and cold for us and his heart never really seems in it (the game too, not just being at Burnley). We could and should spend the money on someone who is consistent.

So now his heart isn't in football or Burnley??

He clearly went from Non-league to Premier League for a laugh then......

I can't wait to see what his heart isn't into next.

Clarets Turf on FB could well give NNN a run for it's money.

Yep we should sign someone who plays well every game and scores one (or even better two) goals every game.

31 goals in 63 games is a disgrace - 63 goals in 63 games is much better. Infact strictly speaking any number higher than 31 is better. Can we spend the money we get from Gray on someone who scores more than Gray please.

Can you lend me your "Football Management for Dummies" book after you have finished with it please.

I'll also be surprised if he doesn't move on this summer. Primarily due to his domestic situation. Personally I won't lose any sleep over it but I'd like to think we'd get north of £20 m.

Well I for one rate the guy. I've let it be known before when I was comparing him to other forwards such as Danny Ings. Equally as good as a forward in my opinion and would love him to remain, so if he does go in the summer, I won't be on his back. He's a threat that I'm sure every team is looking to cancel out when they play us.

We'll all see just how good Gray is when he leaves, when he is given the service from a footballing side on a consistent basis not the scraps from long balls he works off here.

At a recent dinner everyone on the table agreed they would sell him for £15m.

I know we probably can't poach off West Brom yet but Rondon would be a hell of an upgrade playing the Dyche way.

Certainly Conte at Chelsea and Klopp at Liverpool have both spoken openly of how dangerous they thought he could be too them in their pre match press conferences recently.

And if you look to yesterday's game his run's in the opening minutes forced a change to Liverpool's high back line, they sat back allowing space for Lowton to step into midfield for that sublime pass for Barnes' goal. It is not just about his goals it is what he does to change the oppositions thinking that creates space and opportunities for his team mates that side of his game has really come on.

As I said earlier, if he can develop his ball control skills then he can go far

I'm in two minds about Andre Gray. On the one hand, I like that he's quick and strong and I'm sure he can improve at this level given time and better service. This is his first season in the Premier League and he's come a long way in a short time.

On the other hand, I see I'm not the only one who thinks Gray will jump ship first chance he gets. I've had that impression since we first signed him - not saying I'm right, just my opinion.

If a club offered 15-20mil I'd be okay with us accepting. I trust us to find a more than adequate replacement - maybe even someone better. We've been very fortunate to have some excellent strikers over the years.

Re: Andre Gray

The reason his control gets brought up so often is because his strength is to run onto a ball, yet we seem to play it behind him where he has to stop, trap it then run with it by which time defenders have caught him and dispossessed him.

Play it ahead of him and not only will they not catch him, he will look much more in control.

Scott Hogan went for £15 million without ever playing in the Premier League. Not long ago West Brom turned down £20 million for Berahino who's done **** all in the top division. £25 million minimum for Andre. I'm glad you guys aren't running the club because you don't have a clue about the going rate for a young English striker these days.

Snapping hands off for bids of 12 million.....For a guy who still has loads of potential, yet is already scoring at this level.....

Have you seen the direction transfer fees have gone recently?

Thank Christ you are just someone sounding off on a message board and have zero to do with any decision making at the club.

Course Gray sees us as a stepping stone. As does Keane. We just need to get as much benefit from them whilst we've got them, and then as much profit when the time is right to sell. Thankfully our board seem to be good at maximising our return in both regards.

If those are the clubs that would be interested in him, I would have thought we'd be able to demand a fee of at least £18m given the premium usually paid for a premier league striker, irrespective of whether you think he's worth that sort of money. If we stay up there could be a lot of money exchanging hands at our club this summer. If Keane and Gray were to leave, along with one or two fringe players, we could be looking at combined fees in the region of £40m - £50m. If that was the case you'd think we'd commit much more than that with incoming transfers.

Unbelievable.

Andre is a long way from the finished article. We know it, Sean Dyche knows it and Andre accepts that he isn't. To come from where he has to play in the premier league is a massive, massive step upwards, yet he has taken it in his stride with a really relaxed attitude. He isn't afraid to miss, which is so important for any striker. He's scored 10 goals, as mentioned, despite missing 4 games and being dropped from a couple of others to try 4-5-1. Nobody has a clue how good he could be in a team that create chances, which we rarely do, but to say snap someone's hand off for 12 mill for a player we paid 9 mill for in the Championship. This is the REAL world, it's time some of you gave your heads a shake.

Can't believe some of the jokers on here who are keen to see us get rid of our top scorer for peanuts, how much do you think it will be to replace him? Also mind reading must be strong as there has been no noise about his attitude or about wanting out, the first bad pieces of reporting & its believed. Its nice to see that we still think highly of an exstriker who did not think to much of this club who allowed his contract to run down & has had 4 serious knee injuries that will surely have a negative effect on his career. We will be looking to add to the squad & keep our stars where possible & competing with most bottom half clubs on wages, our latest signings don't seem to have an issue with our wage structure.

I like Gray and think that there is more to come from him, especially considering that he may have missed some development time having only been at a higher level for the past two years or so.

That said, I certainly don't see an England striker in the making. We may not play a style that suits his game but some of the expectations of him that are not fulfilled, such as control, are expected from a top class striker alongside being able to adapt their game to another style of play.

You've got to be bloody good for a team to fit their play around one player and Gray, as good as he is, isn't of that level.

It surprises me if scouts from the likes of Spurs are considering Gray a viable option, even as a bench warmer. I could well be wrong, I just don't see him being more than a mid table premier league striker (which is no bad thing).

Though I agree, I think this is the case with all the younger players at the club.

I'd imagine a players real ambition is to use Burnley Football Club as a stepping stone to a bigger opportunity and Burnley's ambition is to make some profit.

But I think its harsh to say his, or any players heart isn't at Burnley, footballers can only be professional and they all have been. Burnley FC will use the progression of the likes of Charlie Austin, Jay Rodriguez and Danny Ings as examples to lure players to the club.

Would suit him to stay with us-big fish in a small pond, for another season at least. He is fairly injury free and would play every week. Would struggle to hold a regular starting position with about 80% of the teams in the PL-meanwhile SD can develop him to a better player. Smacks of Trippier at Spurs

It will be interesting to see, just what attacking quality we would bring in to replace him if we only get 15 million or less. His critics will be apoplectic with what we would be able to bring in, once Brentford take their slice.
We might end of with Juke back here, or Sordell.

If we stay up and he does leave we'll need 2 strikers. Might be looking at 30 million plus if we're wanting to improve. Unless we find a bargain of some sort which would more than likely have to come from abroad given prices of players already based here.
