Improving Ormerod Yard and the back wall at Turf Moor

The first set of player photographs went on the Bob Lord Stand in January and work is moving on well for the next two phases on the Jimmy Mac & Longside stands.

That idea came via a suggestion on the message board and hopefully there will be some good ideas on the next project which is to improve the appearance of Ormerod Yard (for those who don't know where this is, it is the lane that runs by the cricket ground from the club car park behind the Longside to Belvedere Road) continuing along the wall that is the boundary of the club land behind the Longside.

Please leave any suggestions and ideas on this thread. Hopefully someone will come up with a really good idea.

Id get the club to contact those chaps who did the Sean Dyche moral. Some kind of timeline thing could be cool

Another vote here for Commissioning @graffiastudio to produce lots of vibrant clarets related mural work.

Discussed it in a meeting today and Graffia came up immediately - it is going to be a supporter project like the player pics too.

Would just like to get as many different ideas as possible.

I think a Graffia memorial would be brilliant but elsewhere at the ground rather than there as it'd be a bit hidden away.

Just having it all claret and blue and a proper fence would go a long way to sorting it out IMO.

Would be brilliant to see lots of graffia pieces on the concourses where they would no doubt last a lot longer too with no adverse weather and also less open to being painted over or ruined.

Some history will be good too. Who founded the club and pictures and writing about championship winning sides etc. Not just for us clarets but for opposition fans to see.

How about an improved fan zone - something more permanent rather than a tatty marquee

The fanzone needs to take the tables out if it is to remain so small. Just needs a few bar stool like tables for drinks scattered round.

You've missed the point, it's the area I've referred to above, the back wall and the exit to Ormerod Yard.

flag poles with flags honoring our achievements over the years, start from most recent achievements and as you walk down towards the ground they go back in history...... other than that, I vote Gaffiti bloke to do his stuff :|

Rename it Tommy Boyle Way and produce a tribute to our FA Cup winning side of 1914... lots of facts and pics. As for all, some of us younger Clarets need to brush up on the important pre-war history of the club.

Or "The Burnley Way" and have a timeline of our history right through.

A similar yet less grim version of Berlins Toppgraphy of Terror.

Maybe a load of time lapse pictures of a crucial goal such as Ian Brittons against Orient showing the header as the ball gets nearer and nearer and Ian moving towards it or a Jimmy Mac taking players on or Danny Ings winner at bstards starting with the ball to him from Wallace.

I'd vote for the Graffia mural stuff. A timeline isn't a bad idea at all but too much writing won't do.

I'd say the space is too narrow with too many people walking through it for anything too detailed. You don't want people stopping to read things as they walk along there.

Maybe a drawn out version of this;

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burnley_F ... rmance.svg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

with "Graffia mural stuff" at key moments showing the ups and downs of the Club over the years. maybe old photos could be used as source material?

So as you walk towards the ground you witness the whole history of the club. I would love it.

Evertons ground looks fantastic outside. Something to be proud of. We should do something similar.

Inside the ground on the grim grey breezeblocks get graffia on the job.

I never realised that it had an official name.
We've always called it the "zombie way" on account of the shuffle you have to do up it when it's packed after the game

A slight aside but is there any update on the memorial garden? Hopefully that will see the path from brownhill avenue tidied up! My white trainers can't take that walk for half of the season :D

For years neither did I. I heard Ormerod Yard mentioned in a meeting and had to ask where it was.

Graffia and time line would be great. Evertons had loads of tourists admiring it sunday. Even apparent Liverpool fans. Which can only be a good thing conmercially at least.

We purposely went that way as my nephews not been to goodison. Its a proper, old fashioned ground and remembering and respecting its history is part of it.

If it gets people down to the ground theres a chance they might spend some money in the shop whilst there.

Memorable years in our history all the way along in big painty writing above or around the graffia, not every Claret instantly knows 1914, 1946, 1961 etc over time you learn the history of our club. So I agree with cfc, graffia and timeline would get my vote.

I would hope the gates at the entrance to Ormerod will be replaced to tie in with whatever theme is decided.

As the walkway is overhanged by the trees maybe replace the wall with wood boards and have some detailed carvings on them ?

Long term goal has to be buying the cricket club. Purpose built players car park, players entrance, changing rooms. TV crew parking, fanzones, ease of access to the ground would improve dramatically, fan safety improves ten fold, an new stand would top the lot.

That would be a legacy and a half.
I'm aware it might be a year or 2 away, but it's a must for me after the success of the gawthorpe project.

CT: I think you are going to have to inform people where Ormerod Yard is.

I am deducing it is the area currently enclosing the car park behind the JM and JH stands?
I assume it's the 12 foot high brick wall and chain link fencing that runs from the JM stand, behind the 1960's Gym and does it
include the fence up to Belvedere Road?

Big Murals seems to be the way to go.

Maybe one celebrating Arfields run from the bastards box to the the away fans at Ewood after scoring that screamer? Maybe make it as big as its possible to be!

One thing that hasn't been mentioned on this - the gate at the top which is one of the entrances to the ground. Does anyone think we could do something to improve that?

Do nothing for now then, save the cash and do a proper job where, it can then at least be safe, lit and cleaner.

A bit of paint or a flag is the least of the worries for that death trap sh1t hole.

aggi made a good point on how narrow it is and after a game it is there mainly as an exit area for supporters. I do like the idea of a potential timeline and/or mural.
