80s. Everything that goes out comes back in again in course. I used to laugh at this as a teenager but it does.

Grey trainers with jeans - always.
Re: Jeans with white trainers
Stonewashed jeans with a designer rip across the knees and CK boxers strategically pulled up high enough to reveal the logo just above the beltline. No socks and a pair of blue Toms. Long sleeve check shirt (sleeves rolled up) with top 3 buttons undone. Sleeve tattoo.
Nah , jeans and white trainers.

From 79/83,jeans and white trainers were as common as Stone Island is now at football. It was the only way then.....add some golf/tennis/ski wear & you had the look. Oh - and a wedge cut. Don't knock it - it's our heritage.

Not at you, just the current trend of jeans and white trainers! If you're going for retro then it's got to be desert boots with jeans.Bop wrote:Frogs, sorry- was that for me?

Always gotta be a decent pair of boots with jeans. James Dean style "proper" jeans too.

Re: Jeans with white trainers
Just googled Chelsea boot - not sure I understand the need for dark socks - surely your socks will be hidden unless you're wearing shorts.

34..sutton - when you sit down, your dark blue Paul Smith jeans will ride up your lower leg a little; you don't wanna be showing any white terylene sock [8 pairs for a fiver in Sports Direct]...you need some black or blue 100% cotton from Aquascutum to complete the look that will get you noticed in the Cat and Fiddle on a Sunday lunchtime.

Corfu 1979 'look at that Greek bloke there he's got white trainers with jeans white trainers with jeans!' Costas you inspired us!
Re: Jeans with white trainers
Are denim shorts OK with white trainers?
Re: Jeans with white trainers
Trainers should never be worn as casual footwear. If the weather is inclement then, as Hampstead has pointed out, you can wear Chelsea boots or you can wear Suede Desert boots. In summer I wear suede loafers without socks which is perfectly acceptable. Bass Weejuns are a well known brand as are Sebagos. As far as jeans are concerned you should never ever wear stone washed jeans. Try to get hold of a pair of 1947 vintage Levi's I think you will find them most roomy and vey comfy.

I appear to have had my reply deleted from this thread, the gist of which was 'I don't buy white trainers because they get dirty too easily' .. sounds like one of the mods might be a white trainer die hard ..

Re: Jeans with white trainers
Lyle and Scott Claret Jug Polo or Jumper - tick
Blue mid wash Jeans - tick
WHITE Lacoste low level trainers - tick
Claret / blue / white - nothing casual looks better when strolling the leafy boulevards of Surrey.
No-one has mentionned pumps either. VERY fashionable down here to wear the white lace-up pumps with jeans....
And how can you go wrong with a pair of these stylish bad boys..

I also occasionally wear white trainers with a casual suit. This is me yesterday in Accrington Costa.
So you see - white trainers ARE cool and can be the perfect accompaniment to a BFC inspired casual outfit.

Levis with desert boots or decent leather shoes/ ankle boots. It's the only way forward.
