Did anybody see the Europa League highlights last night? Roy Keane may not be everybody's cup of tea but I think he says what many are thinking, is straight to the point and isn't afraid to say what he thinks. He was straight to the point over Mourinho's whinging about bananas, players collapsing and fixture congestion and being given no respect.
Keane said: "I've never heard so much rubbish in my life. Why did we have to listen to that garbage."
Followed up by questioning whether United was too big for Mourinho and, "I'm sick to death of him" and "he's talking absolute nonsense".
I thought it was pretty funny, whilst also being very true!

Never been a big fan of Keane because he is a bit devious, however, he said exactly what I was thinking last night and you certainly couldn't argue with what he said because he has been there and done it in an era when players weren't given the protection that they are given now.
I do wonder whether the men with straitjackets are waiting around the corner at every Mourinnho interview these days.

Roy Keane is a nutter for sure.....and as great as a player as he was for United he has made a lot of enemies down the years.
As a pundit though I think he is one of the better ones - he does say what he thinks and does not care if that means upsetting players or managers or even fellow pundits (Lee Dixon seems scared sh-itless by him !!).
What he is saying about Mourinho is spot on - everything Mourinho says or does has got some kind of agenda. Either he is trying to cover up for his own deficiencies, or his players poor form, or trying to influence referees or wind up fellow managers.
When Mourinho first came to England I think everyone thought he was kind of funny and different to miserable Sir Alex or a blind Wenger. Within a few years though everyone has Mourinho sussed - he is a nasty piece of work who has run out of ideas. The team he has spent £200m on is doing no better than Van Gaals or Moyes team and both of these managers were constantly persecuted by fans and the media.
Look at the difference between Chelsea last year and this....and virtually the only difference is the manager. The team is identical - other than Alonso. What he must have done to the players to make them 40 or so points worse off beggars belief.
He will not be at United this time next year I reckon - but it won`t be his fault it will be everyone else's.
As you can see I hate Mourinho !!

Keane is perfect from a pundits point of view buts its easy to understand why he was a useless manager. I'm not Jose's biggest fan but he does have a point on lots of things. Why they played on Monday this week was stupid. We want our teams doing well in Europe surely they should have played Saturday. Its easy to criticise his spending at utd, £200m??? That means nowt when you have 3/4 other teams whose squad cost the same/more. They can't all win the league.

Fantastic. He is far better than Carragher, Neville and co. For what its worth I think Hoddles ok too.
Thought the interview was great. Its no wonder hes not on bbc though

Like others I really liked Mourinho when he came. But the game against us two years ago showed what he is. Much like Guardiola this year. Fergie and even Wenger almost always had credit for Burnley and other smaller teams win or lose.
The press keep going on about the progress and results improving under Mourinho. Well every time I look theyre sixth.
History suggests united will win the league under Mourinho. But not with the attitude hes got these days.

As always those that don't like JM will agree with Keane, those that are ambivalent or like him will look at Keanes record and disagree.

Absolute rubbish. That's exactly what it ISN'T. It's about many people disliking Keane but accepting that he's bang on the money here.

Before a Sunday ont'Turf.
I hope they are all eating bananas from now until then.

I think the fact Keane says what he thinks and how it usually is, then that's exactly why Sky won't touch him. They wouldn't want him speaking the truth about diving etc which could damage their precious product.

The BBC have the best coverage/commentary of the snooker.
Sky Sports have the best coverage of the darts.
Perhaps ITV have the best football punditry

I genuinely turn off a lot these days because of the commentary and analysis. My dad turned Monaco City off because of the nonsense McManaman was spouting.
A good and even controversial will attract viewers.

You maybe correct. I feel Gary Neville started off more controversial when he started for Sky but would say he's more moulded to the Sky way now. I may, of course, just be slightly paranoid

Mourinho is an utter tool. The way he took control of the media after Barnes' pass was absolutely ridiculous. He completely lost the plot and used Barnes and Burnley to hide his failure. As pointed out above he uses mind games to try to disguise his mistakes, but I see you Jose, I see you. He STILL hasn't got over being done over by Burnley at the bridge - yes, I know it was a draw, but it wasn't supposed to be, and he couldn't get his head around why he couldn't beat a clearly inferior group of players. Whatever he had, he's lost. And that includes peoples respect.
But Keane is a thug and a bully, and as such should be given as little, if not less, respect as Mourinho. Decent enough player, but he has the people skills of a snake, the attitude of someone who can't accept that he just might be wrong, and he absolutely will not stop to try to impose his will on people, even when it is obvious the individual is weaker than him. Sure the will to dominate can be a good thing at times, but it's hardly required of an ex footballer who has failed spectacularly when dealing with different groups of individuals.
I dislike Mourinho, but I detest Keane.

Roy Keane's punditry consists of him guffawing about his generation were proper 'ardmen and that the current generation are soft. No surprise people on here like it since his punditry is aimed at the older demographic who wishes football would return to the old days of career ending tackles and crap football.

What a load of bsh-it.
Doesn't matter what generation you are from - if you enjoy players rolling around, cheating and constantly getting the game stopped for no reason other than to waste time....then good on you.
The fact that nearly every foul or handball is now a yellow card is not a good thing - neither does that mean we should go back to the days of muddy pitches and Norman Hunter trying to break your leg. There is a middle ground and we don't have it now with players hardly able to put a tackle in and forwards who are experts at conning the referee.
However horrible Keane is / was he was a footballer that would make any team a better team.

As a pundit I like his straight talking. As a player you got no less than 100%, the problem with then and now is that if he was playing today he'd be lucky to see out 90 mins in any game.

Keane was an unbelievable player. A real leader of men. The United midfield of Giggs, Keane, Scholes and Beckham was just about as perfect as it gets in a 4-4-2 formation. I honestly can't see it ever being beaten with regards to the quality it contained. Keane was a crucial part of it. He wasn't just a hard-man, he had quality on the ball as well. Yes he had a tendency to lose his composure every so often but for about 35 games a season he was the heartbeat of the most successful British club of the PL era.
IMO, ultimately, the thing that pulled them above the rest was their desire as a group. None of those four guys ambled through 90 minutes - they all wanted success and worked for it every week. Keane must watch the likes of Pogba and Lingard and just laugh. These lads wouldn't have had the character to to survive playing under Fergie, nevermind with Keane as their captain. Pogba is a walking show-reel. No effort, no desire, no commitment and mostly anonymous... but he'll pass the ball 50 yards every so often and that's all that matters to him. The phrase "style over substance" comes to mind. Give me Keane any day of the week!

Keane was one of the most committed and driven players I've seen in England.
Also very very good at what he did, which allowed others to flourish around him.
There were times when Scholes got clattered and Keane 'sorted' it out next time the player had the ball, that's what sort of player he was.
Despicable that he deliberately broke that lads leg though.

My favourite Roy Keane moment has to be just after all the nonsense at the world cup in Japan and Korea when someone came up with a spoof add that read something like:
For sale, one pair of Diadora football boots. Hardly used. Contact Roy Keane. Reason for sale, I've just grown too big for them.

I would be interested to know just how long you watched the crap football of the past and how many players had their career ended by a hard tackle.

problem is Moanrinhio is right, the English teams in European competition get no help. LaLiga moves or postpones fixtures etc etc. Our teams wont do well again until they have a more even playing field. I don't feel sorry for them mind you
As for Roy Keane, anyone who goes out purposefully to end another players career is a Karwanka of the highest order, I wouldn't **** on him if he was on fire

Is there not a correlation between the money Mourinho gets paid every week and the scheduling of his team's matches?

Didn't Keane injure himself some years previously trying to foul the same player, so snapping his leg was some warped sort of pay back?

It was more to do with directly after that, Haaland leaning over Keane telling him to get up, suggesting he was feigning injury. Keane had actually ruptured his cruciate ligament. So the payback was for Haaland saying that and the way he said it.
