Golovkin Jacobs
Anyone watching this tonight? Its on BT sport and should be better than most of the ppv stuff on sky.
Jacobs has a very good knockout rate nearly as good as GGG himself and at 5/1 might be worth a bet.

Re: Golovkin Jacobs
Is it just me or does GGG look impossible to hurt?
I honestly believe we could be looking at the greatest undefeated fighter of all time in GGG.

Re: Golovkin Jacobs
GGG will stop Jacobs.
Jacobs might outbox Golovkin for a round or 2 but as soon he gets hit it's game over.
the nearest equivalent fight I could find was Jacobs vs Pirog. Jacobs looked very uncomfortable under pressure and was out cold from 1 shot.
Nobody pressures better than GGG.

Yes pirog was his only defeat and he finished his career unbeaten albeit a bit early because of injury.
Should be a good fight.

Re: Golovkin Jacobs
I don't expect it to last too long.
Would love to Have seen GGG step up to fight Froch when it was talked about. Both men have granite chins.

Re: Golovkin Jacobs
Golovkin will stop Jacobs between 4 and 6 I think.
The 160 division is not great at the moment, particularly with Canelo messing about with catchweights. Jacobs has got this fight mainly on the back of splattering Quillen in 90 seconds, but Quillen was something of a hype job himself. Other than that he's fought a list of nobodies and the only time he stepped up to World Class level he got banjoed by Pirog.
The one saving grace for Jacobs is that he could not deal with Pirog's movement, whereas Golovkin tends to stalk in straight lines and can be hit. That having been said, when Golovkin turned over he was a defensive master and they've moderated his style to this walk them down wrecking machine to make him more markeatable. The last time Golovkin fought somebody with heavy hands - David Lemieux - he respected his power and boxed more cautiously and I half suspect he'll do the same tonight at first.
Jacobs looked real, real nervous at the weigh-in. That, I think, will lead to him either boxing ultra conservative or ultra reckless. Ironically, if he starts reckless that may mean the fight goes longer as Golovkin will likely take a bit more of a look before putting his shots together.
Golovkin is very decent but he's fought a lot of average people so it's tough to say how good he is - not his fault he's been avoided or not had the quality in his division. I'd say he'd be competitive with any 160lber, which is about as high a compliment a can pay a fighter.
I think best ever is a stretch though - I don't think he's top 3 on the planet at the moment, and in fact a better fighter is on the undercard tonight. I think the top 3 pound for pound at the moment are :-
Roman Gonzalez - Chocolatito, he fights tonight, 4 weight world champ and 46-0.
Andre Ward - two weight world champ, unbeaten.
Vasily Lomachenko - love this guy, two weight world champ already and will likely be a three weight champ in 10 fights. Unbelievable ability, only has a loss on his record as he went for a world title in his second fight.
I think there is an argument Terence Crawford is better than Golovkin too, but I accept that is down to opinions.

Re: Golovkin Jacobs
Jacobs has missed the IBF second day weigh in so that's not on the line tonight.
Good analysis Socrates.
I do agree that GGGs record isn't the best, but it's the best who's been willing to fight him. Recently there has been some decent names on there, Macklin, Murray, Rubio, Geale, Stevens, Lemieux, Brook.
The problem with GGG is his freakish power and granite chin combo. Brook can bang and them clean shots he landed would have knocked a lot of guys out.
GBP will pull an amir Khan and won't put canelo near GGG until he starts to slow down.
Hopefully frank Warren keeps his word and put BJS in there with GGG next. An in shape BJS will be a nightmare for GGG, he'd need to keep up the workrate for the full 12 though.

Re: Golovkin Jacobs
Take it you didn't agree with the result?
Was a very cadgey fight. Lots of close rounds, the Knockdown and last round was the deciding factor.
