God I hate that chant, but did we even sing it? I don't remember hearing it yesterday.

Re: The chant
As with all songs sung, if you don't like it sing something you do like and maybe some more will join it to drown out the song.

Don't claim to be much of a 'chanter' myself but I reckon the Spurs supporters really outsang us yesterday and showed what a naff 'playlist' of chants we have here compared to them.
I'll await the backlash

Well if you're 2nd in the league and winning 2-0, chances are, you've got the wind in your sails.

True about the outsinging, but that still doesn't explain our naff repertoire of songs sung at a million beats per minute.

Re: The chant
Spurs started to make an effort to out sing us but struggled and went quiet
Second half started again then scored then they were loud but wood expected that
Good vocal support from the Spurs
But they did win
The stokies will be vocal as well this Tuesday night
So let's sing are hearts out for the lads
We need two more win

Remember stoke fans filling the away end in the Longside way back when, their rendition of Delilah was breathtaking...everyone of ours are quite naff.

Spurs have a good array of songs, not the same old shite and seem more concerned with singing songs about their team than the opponent or rivals (barring a bit of Chelsea chasing). They also do a slow song properly and have a good few in their repertoire.
Our repertoire tends to be a little tedious, mainly focussing on former managers, rovers, a stand most of the singers no longer go in or the opposition's **** support, which is often far better than our own.
I'm certainly no chanter, but taking an impartial view, we've a lot to learn and a lot to do to compare, particularly at home.

Re: The chant
This. I like the majority of chants but it needs freshening up. People say "start your own chants" and I do but it's sometimes difficult when you're outnumbered by chavs and people who sing about Bertie Bee meeting Bill Shankly and friggin' Um Pa Pa. IT'S UM BAH BAH.DCWat wrote:Spurs have a good array of songs, not the same old shite and seem more concerned with singing songs about their team than the opponent or rivals (barring a bit of Chelsea chasing). Re: The chant
I know some are posting on here for a bite but the other three stands might as well not be there atmosphere wise. I was going to ask a steward to check on some fans in the longside to make sure they were still breathing as there was no sign of life from afar.Top Claret wrote:Poor effort from the Fishwickers. We could do with a new jukebox of songs but songs only go around the ground after scoring.

Re: The chant
It would help if the singers in the Cricket Field slowed down. Yesterday the "we are the longside Burnley" chant went up. Not that long ago it used to build up momentum around the ground. Yesterday after about 5 chants they were going so fast it was unintelligible rubbish, and it faded out. Not once but multiple times. We might not have many songs, but sung well they are good. Sung at 100mph they are crap.

Let's start by singing
Sean dyche's claret blue army
With the four claps after it
Instead of Sean dyche claret blue army
With continuous clapping then speeding up
And sounding bloody sh it

Love that 'when the spurs, go marching in', starts off slow, then speeds up. So inventive.

Re: The chant
I don't believe it. Whenever any new song, and some are very inventive I have to say, are suggested you always get your nay sayers on here and on social media stating how sh*t the suggestion is. Surely that can on,y men we are brilliant at coming up with new chants?StuffyClaret wrote:Don't claim to be much of a 'chanter' myself but I reckon the Spurs supporters really outsang us yesterday and showed what a naff 'playlist' of chants we have here compared to them.

It's like our fans are totally stuck in 1997. I'll not say earlier because in the 70's, 80's and start of the 90's we were very inventive and appreciative of new songs. Right now it's like some of our fans don't want to move on.
Embrace it and try it, FFS, otherwise we'll be the most boring set of fans in the league.

Re: The chant
Atmosphere this season and last has been a massive improvement. But thats purely down to the cfs.
The longside is terrible. Jimmy mac non existent. Bob Lord is the bob lord.
The speed at which fans sing is a major issue. And the problem is many dont realise they arent meant to be sung at that speed.
Jimmy mullens claret and blue army was fantastic. You are lucky to get two renditions of sean dyches. Granted it doesnt roll off the tongue.
Atmosphere has gradually been worse though lately and at 1'0 yesterday we all but gave up.
We were meeting with the club about the stand and was considering a few things on social media but think its flogging a dead horse. Many either dont want to sing at all or want to sing three songs at once.

Re: The chant
There will always be a group of people that dont like a certain chant or its wording or aim. Where I sit in the CFS we spend about 80 minutes of every game either chanting or starting a chant between us.... The Defour chant was started on a whatsapp group I have with mates and got going. The "Owen Coyles a b*stard chant was started on the same group..... A few of us sang the ..x undefeated song whilst very drunk on way to and around Preston and it only got going on the way back to the train station and carried on.Claretforever wrote:I don't believe it. A lot of new songs just arent everyones cup of tea and people don't like change. Shake it up Brady flopped - Jeff Hendricks (shes electric - oasis) chant never took off..... Just got to keep trying to get new chants going and some will catch on ....... But then people will always complain about us singing the same stuff.
Spurs had a brilliant repertoire someone mentioned above yet I only remember them singing about 4/5 songs. In the CFS yesterday I heard about 10 different chants going through the game (probably more).

Re: The chant
In response to the OT. Don't worry, we couldn't hear the chant in the BL stand. Only noise we could hear were coming from the Spurs section, and they were very vocal. Same I fear on Tuesday night.

Re: The chant
Spurs didn't have a brilliant repertoire but they were loud at times.
I sit in the JHU still. There is very few of us left singing. I don't know the people I sing with but they are longstanding, passionate fans and we have sung together for years now. Not all of us have given up on trying to support the team vocally. Moving to the CFS has split those prepared to make a racket up. From my point of view, we keep trying to get our own stuff going but the support around us is slow to respond. We do follow the CFS but you change songs too quickly. By the time we've persuaded those around us to join in, you have moved on, it gets messy and those reluctant voices quieten down again. I don't know how to co-ordinate it better but sing the songs for longer to give us a chance to fight the apathy currently residing in the JHU. Also, we are sat down, so sing slower.
Tuesday needs to be loud. Stoke is season defining.
