Should we sign anybody next season?

As in nearly 18 months we have only signed one player for a fee who has become an important part of the side, perhaps we should hold onto our money and just play with what we've got?

We're going to sell someone instead.
We just haven't decided what sort of fee we want for you.

Sidney, you replying 2nd to an ABC post is becoming as predictable as Boro not scoring.

In one word. Yes.
How much money we should spend depends a lot on whether Dyche is still with us next season.

A proven goalscorer....not easy to find but we need one.

We need to sign players that enable us to change the way we play. That means technical players with pace. They don't come cheap, but it needs to be done if we're to keep on improving.

A holding midfielder, but that is too much to ask.
Well at least another centre-half that I can move there.

I wouldn't mind Adama Traore who came on for them today.
The one with the sheep's head - only young with plenty of skill
and like sh!t off a shovel.

Isn't he the lad with the phenomenal contract, he gets a 20 grand pay rise every year.

NO Tarky will be able to cover all the midfield and two centre back positions

I'd forgotten about that deal.
He was on that at Villa, got a £20k a week pay rise despite relegation etc.
I can't see Gibson agreeing to that at Boro, probably just pays him a daft amount straight off instead.

I think we should forget about signing marquee players, and look in the bargain basement, we've got a better grasp of that market.
This year we have laden ourselves with a group of players who are costly, marginally effective and if the truth be told no better than what we already have.
We need to go back to the drawing board.

No we don't, we need a mixture of the two, bargains and higher costing players.
Continuously signing just bargain players won't help the club progress, or is that what you want secretly, so you can complain some more?
As for a group, we signed 3 players for biggish money.
Hendrick - seems to have stepped up quite well after a slow start when people were stating he was a waste of money.
Detour - clearly better then what we had, but seems to be injured a lot, I'd rest him now and get him sent off to specialists and then look at his fitness for next season.
Fully fit he'd walk into half the teams in this league.
Brady - hard to judge, but needs to be played on the left, something Dyche seems to avoid doing.
Westwood - reasonable money and again he hasn't played much.
Dyche is loyal to players who've done well for us, that's fair I think, even if sometimes he's overly loyal.

Players will leave it looks unlikely that any of the out on loan players will come back ready for first team. We will be looking to make progress so we need to bring players in.

We will of course sign players, as to whether any of them will feature much next season remains questionable.

I think sir Sean has signed better players every year, I assume it's what's called forward planning.
Fully expect him to have a list of players we will be looking to sign already.
Some of the teams that go down have some great players that we could look at.

The points aquired and league position would make me think we have probably the best squad we have had in forty years.

We are going to have to bring in players.Keane Gray and Boyd may leave in addition iDefour who is unreliable Barton will be 36 and there are rumours about Arfield leaving. We are going to have to rebuild. We will need a new midfield ,striker ,and cover at the back.

Next season is massive. With a few departures in key positions this summer, we will certainly need to invest big time if we are to stay in this league.
I don't know who does the recruitment at our place, but they certainly will have to come up with the goods to add a some quality and pace to this side and at the right price

could we negotiate with the players club and not his agent?
that way we won't get kicked in the ******** when the chairman says he's going nowhere.
Could we have at least one deadline day signing involving flight tracker? my highlight of the Grosicki saga.

How much have we spent on players the season, and what sort of value have we had from them. A lot, and not a lot.

The value we have had from them will be measured in terms of the financial rewards for PL survival.
If you want to be specific about it Defour v Hull, Hendrick v Watford, Brady v Chelsea. All individual performances which can be equated directly to points gained. To use one of SD's favourite phrases, fine margins, but could be argued that those points are the difference between survival and relegation.

Yes but we might have signed better players for less who had more impact. They really other than Hendrick haven't had much impact this season, we have relied almost exclusively on last years squad.

We signed the players Dyche wanted at the end of the day, that was the important part.
He wasn't whining in the media about a lack of support after the windows were shut, like that dick at Boro was.

For me the squad was strengthened but not the side.
We desperately needed a left back, holding midfielder, striker and creative midfielder, we didn't get any of those.

We probably need to sign at least 4 or 5 players if we stay up.
Especially as we may be losing one or two.
That's close to half a team so it's quite a tall order.
We need more pace and creativity both in midfield and up front.

Flanagan = LB, or RB.
Westwood = midfielder (we're not really that desperate for a holding midfielder)
Bamford on loan and then Aygei takes his place in the squad, but we've not needed either really, what we've got has been enough.
Defour and/Hendrick seem to have enough about them as creative midfielders.
We signed all of the positions you mentioned, you're just whining for the sake of it now.
We've virtually avoided relegation, not had too many thumping's and haven't missed Marney as much as we did last time.
Yes we've had a reasonable amount of luck this season, unlike others, but you should just try enjoying it for once.

The team that got us out of the championship was impressive, fighting a lengthy campaign and winning the league.
Sine then there has been some frustration about lack of strength in key areas. Constant worries about midfield. Now we are up and doing relatively okay, it will be a monumental effort to reconstruct a successful side again .
Wages are astronomic, and if we inflate the coffers by flogging off Keane, it wont do a lot in the scheme of things.
We are not a big club, most fans dont begrudge our players seeking pastures new, all footballers move on.
We should be wary though, that if the likes of Heaton and one or two others of that calibre depart, it'll be like starting afresh. Destabalise us somewhat to say the very least.
Acquiring additional talent is vital, question is , who replaces our finest stars?

Perhaps abc should tell us who we should have signed ...
And who we should sign.
He obviously can tell a player by eyes only and last year he only needed if I remember half an hour.
Perhaps we should pay his Sky subscription or at least try to get tax relief on his outgoings for his services.
