£100k a week 'silly' Money or boxing clever?

The big Jesse gets a pay rise to £100k per week....4 year deal...is he worth it??

In my opinion with the hiked transfer fees it's a no brainer....alternative best case scenario...you pay £10-20m for a similar player then pay him minimum £50k a week....

I'll let you all do the maths....then think about how much we could/should offer Keane at the end of the season if we stay up. ;)

Any offers?

This is no doubt the Lingaard situation at United where he has trebled his salary now he has come of age.

Standard Man United procedure.

If you checked your facts first you'd find he's on £75k a week basic and add-ons make it £100k a week, that's what I've read.

The usual rags will just focus on the top figure though.

He's playing regularly for UTD and appearing in the England squad, so they've tied him down to a better deal, meaning they'll get decent money for him in a year when Jose decides to buy someone better.

Bloody hell....good job I like helping people think...lol

£100k per week x 4 years....£20m....the cost of lingaard

If they offered £70k per week and he said....******** to that, Accy Stanley have offered me a Chinese meal, a skate board and free food after the game, so I'm off there!! Utd would look for another attacking midfielder....mata esk.....£20m? Maybe £35-35...th n they have to pay the fella ....say minimum £50k/wk for 4 years....total cost....minimum £30m....maybe £45-50m.

Total cost of player without transfer fee + wages vs Total cost of player WITH transfer fee AND wages....I thought I was talking to bright people....I give up!

No it isn't, but your rambling makes it hard to follow.

It probably won't matter what we offer Keane if he decides he's off.
It will ultimately depend on who's making bids for him.

We can fend off interest from a reasonable number of clubs, its the top 6-8 we have to watch for.

Utd - possible, but they're overloaded with defenders right now.
Chelsea - Terry's last season, they've got a good group of 4/5 CB's though at present, excluding Terry, although they're playing 3 at the back.
Liverpool - possible, they'll be looking to offload some at a guess and improve.
City - tough call, could be a good partner for Stones but I suspect they'll shop abroad.
Everton - realistic, could be first choice quite quickly.
Spurs - I don't think he's better then what they've got.
Arsenal - see above.

You get to gist of what I'm saying.
Saints would be a good move, they'll be looking in the summer.

Totally missed the point of my post Sidney...if the total wages you pay are lower than transfer fee + total wages, it's a no brainer.

Sorry my rambling had to teach you how to suck eggs...

Some fine points in your none relevant reply though....thanks

so only you read the FACTUAL rags?

Basically his contract is 100k a week that everyone, apart from the rags you read, is talking about it.

I'd love to be Keanes agent right now..."he's worth £30-40m and you're getting him for free....let the bargaining begin!!" Lol

Just sums up whats wrong with football. Barely an established player or household name to lots of casual supporters. The lads ok but can't see where the justification lies in such a huge salary apart from playing for Man Utd and this looks like the going rate.

Unless people have some idea what you are talking about that first post, along with its title, lacks vital information, namely the subject you are talking about.

Is that the modern way of expressing oneself?

Its only £100k IF he meets certain requirements/clauses, which is if UTD qualify for the champions league.
If they don't he's on £75k a week.

Like I said, plenty of media outlets are looking at the £100k a week, because that sounds more dramatic then £75k a week.

I'm not sucking eggs.

Why wasn't my reply relevant?
What Keane does next is going to be based more on what clubs want him then what we offer him in wages.

We could offer him £100k a week, but if a club who's playing in a European competition next season offers him less I suspect he will leave us.
I think first team football will also be more important to him now then it was when he joined us.

Theres more too wages sometimes in football.

Jesse gets 75/100k a week then when they sell him they can get a higher fee. If he only got 10k you cant then sell him for much more than 10m

The other side is a club bids 30m for Keane then he'll be off because we don't pay wages for a 30m player.

As a side note, he's just given away and signed his match shirt to a disabled fan at Sunderland.

Seems like a nice, grounded lad.
