Goal cam against Middlesbrough

Did Lowton retreat to the post for the freekick, under orders or my reading the takers body language?

To keep his eye on the ball and head it clear was exceptional.

Second point:

Anyone who thought that Joey Barton was play acting, to buy time and calm the situation is clearly mistaken! He took a right bang!

I think the latter but either way, it's a pretty incredible bit of defending.
It looks more and more impressive each time I watch it.

it was brilliant but if he'd ended up playing someone onside he'd have taken a pasting on here.

“We know Downing’s quality so I had a little talk with Heats and he said drop on the line and I just tried to get my body in the way,” Lowton added.
“Earlier on in the season we had one against Hull and we said afterwards we should have maybe put someone on the line, so it’s paid us back this time.
"

And I got pelters by many on here for saying we should have had someone on the line to stop Snodgrass scoring.

Pleased to hear the club have taken my advice

As well as the agility, the timing was perfect. If he'd moved too soon, Middlesbrough could have flooded the goal area. I bet Downing was sick - he could perhaps accept a brilliant save from the keeper, but a brilliant save by someone who wasn't there must be hard to take.

Nearly as good as Trippiers header off the line at Blackpool

Must admit I still think that, brilliant though it was from Lowton, had he not dropped back, Heaton would have saved it.

Anybody notice how slow Brady was in clearing the area after Lowton's second clearance

talked about Boro no mention of Burnley's performance, then said we are out of time and then go to show Sunday's papers headlines all about the top clubs of course.
