Following on from the where you'd like to live. For me it is between Rotherham, Birmingham and Luton where I would wake up draw the curtains then close the curtains.

Dirty, smelly, polluted, expensive, violent, noisy .....

Glad I don't live in Workington. A real forgotton corner of dereliction. Admittedly it's been 2006 since I was last there, but nothing had changed between then and the previous visit... Only saving grace is that it isn't far from a number of scenic spots (without actually being so itself)...

I lived in Central London for 7 years and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. However, at the end of any day, when I would blow my nose it was noticeable just how much dirt I had breathed in during the day. (I tried to phrase that so as not to disgust)

Cumbria or Nofolk.
Nice places, especially in the countryside. But too isolated and would get easily bored as much as I love the great outdoors. Somewhere in between city, coast and countryside but near the hills. Which kind of describes Burnley. Maybe I should feel more blessed to live here than I do.

Central London is great. Not for everyone but I love it. Its no more violent than anywhere else. In fact I dont think I have ever seen any violence there!? (Notwithstanding the terrorist stuff but thats not a London thing per se).

I'm not a country person at all so anywhere too rural would immediately be on the list of places I'd avoid. Regarding built up areas, I think Croxteth is arguably the roughest place I've ever been so I'll nominate there.

Lived in the Langworthy Rd area of Salford in the mid 90s. It was a horrible place.

Anywhere south of here. I'm happy in North Yorkshire, but if I was forced to move it would have to be further north.

You are right mate. I have Lived in Birmingham for 18 years. It is a proper sh#t hole. Just check this link out. You would never get out of bed never mind close the curtains if you moved here.

Dungeness in Kent is a truly weird place populated by odd balls - one of its bright spots is its own nuclear power station. Sheerness in Kent is possibly slightly worse. Check 'em out on the internet to see how bizarre they are.

You do realise that is contradicting the bold type with picture examples.

Yes mate. I was being ironic. Birmingham is a great place to live. Very under rated and has transformed itself over the last 15 years.

Can't believe nobody has said Blackburn.
Apart from the obvious reasons it's also an incredible grim place. Makes Burnley look like Richmond in a lot of areas.

Dungeness? Who wouldn't want to live in a converted railway carriage with a toy train service with all those nice pubs not too far away to the west?
There's far worse places even in Kent. Gravesend. Penge. Ramsgate. All the Londony bits.
For me: bargoed, abertysswg, London, Calais, USA.saffron Walden, most of Essex west of Colchester birmingham
