I hope its this summer for a fee, sickening feeling if he was to leave on a free the summer after which some bogus HITC-type reports are suggesting.

I'd like to think that Keano wouldn't stiff us in that respect as he appears grateful of the step up Burnley have given him.

I was talking to my missus about this. She's a big Clarets fan too and Spurs were mooted as a desintaion. I don't know the in's and out's but he's under contract and could they afford him? I say that with the impending new stadium etc. Daniel Levy is nothing but not shrewd.

I think 5 year deals are unusual these days. He's still under contract. He seems like a level headed guy who has very much appreciated us. I don't think he'd screw us over. Let's just be positive and hope for the best outcome. He's been fantastic for us.

De Bruyne signed a 6 year deal at Man City. If you're signing a young player who's going to be a star, get him tied down for as long as possible.

They also had to pay 55million to get him and wages of over 100k a week for those 6 years.

When signing a player there are 2 parties involved you can't force someone to sign for however many years you want. Of course it is easy with hindsight once you have seen the players progression over 2 years to wish it was longer. Hendrick and Brady aren't on 6 year deals either and both have played a lot more football than Keane had when he signed.

Unfortunately, when we signed Michael Keane from ManU Burnley still needed to be careful with every pound - and we weren't an established Premier League team, never mind a "big club."

Still pleased that Michael Keane has played for our team. He might have used Burnley for a stepping stone, but the great players that have enabled Sean Dyche to build a great squad are also Burnley's stepping stone to becoming an established Premier League club.

We'd had Keane on loan, we knew how good he was. He wanted first team football. As long as he was getting football and £25k a week he'd have signed, whether it was 2,3 or 5 years.

He didn't get 1st team football when he first came he was behind Duff.

If he has a quality man of the match game on sunday thers no reason why mourinho wont ava look. Theyl have a buy back option as most players they ship out do

Our really, really good players are not going to stay and we have to deal with that.

they haven't with keane but they do have a sell-on clause.

We'll still make a massive profit from the sale - the biggest in our history by a long way.

At the same time we have had the pleasure of watching him in a claret shirt for 3 years, make his debut for England, and conduct himself in a great way. He has represented himself and the club aswell as any Burnley player has in many a year.

Yet £25m plus profit and all of the above is still not enough for a few fans !!

Contract length means nothing. If he was on a 5 year deal he would still want to leave this season to move onto bigger and better things.

Id take 20 for him slot tarky in and buy

Gotta be worth £25m+ in the current market. He still makes mistakes fairly regularly and would benefit another year with us but good luck to him, hope he doesn't spend his time sat on a bench.

The timings weird, I think everyone expected this but why has it been announced now, in this fashion? £15-20M should do it. I think he's a good defender for us in a defensive system and that's about it. I don't see him coping well in an attacking team, positionally he isn't at that level yet. It's easy to defend your own final third with 10 other men helping out. I consider Ben Mee a better defender, Keane just had more to offer a big club (age, distribution).

Keano has certainly dealt with interest from other clubs much better than Ings did.

We know that ManU are his team, that he was sad to move on from them and that he has declared that he wants to go back there sometime as a player.

He was their guest at Old Trafford last weekend - seen sitting amongst some of his old mates. Mourinho has publicly declared an interest and United are in the box seat with any fee (sell-on clause).

It all just seems a bit odd that all this and today's Sky announcements have come at a very convenient time for ManU with our upcoming game against them.

Really? That £25 million profit would more than cover a replacement. ie. Lees from wednesday for £10 million.

Letting him run down his contract would be foolish and unfair to a great 'short term' servant to the club.

Him leaving would have little effect on whether we stay up next year or not as long as a suitable squad replacement is sought. Hes done well this year but he is not the sole reason we should remain at the top table for next season.

nobody from BFC has announced anything, its sky sports filling there time making up stuff or putting 2 and 2 together.

Letting him see out his contract and leave for nothing would be a very dumb move.
Pretty sure it is not a situation that we we need to worry about.
Keane is leaving in the summer - and that's the best thing for all parties (other than him signing a 20 year contract with Burnley !)

Certainly nothing surprising. Must be a quite day at Sky. I'd be surprised if MK ended up anywhere but OT next season.

That's the common sense attitude, what choice do we have? Every season I always think that the next player to be replaced will be more difficult to replace than the previous player, yet the club keeps doing it, like clockwork.

So I'll do it again. Keane will be really really difficult to replace. hopefully the club will manage it.

Our defence at the minute is a whole unit. Our system thrives off continuity, I'd rather miss out on £25million now and reap the benefit at the end of next season.
It's not going to happen, as he will inevitably leave this summer.
I'd much rather we got an extra season with our current back five, knowing that it works, and for a club like ours is successful. Than risk getting a replacement in, who won't be as good, and may have a negative impact on our current system.

Will we ever learn how to handle transfers-
